Based on your customer experience, how can I check status of a 570 12V battery?

How many days is it supposed to last with the car sat on the garage before it goes flat?

Any damage if it is let drop flat to 0%?

It’s about 50 days, but most owners are intelligent enough to leave them on the trickle charge tender, so not to cause any problems.

Exactly.

So if I am interested in a car that had the battery flat once (god knows how incompetent some people are...) shall I ask for a replacement?

Let's put in this way.

If I buy the car and battery goes flat after a week, then I could claim a replacement under warranty, couldn't I?

Obviously part of the deal would be a battery charger, which I wouldn't use first week so to see if it keeps charge. wink

Just need to make sure dealer agrees battery should last 50 days...

The car tells you how much battery life there is. When you switch it off a gauge appears on the main screen showing how many days, mine usually says between 45 and 55 days depending on driving and if I've used the trickle charger. If you park it and it says 50 days, then return after a week and it says 20 days, the battery is toast.

I'm intrigued, how do you know the battery has been fully discharged in its distant past?

Probobley need to check the tyres as they may have gone square with all that sitting around.

I would also check the exhaust from rusting from the inside out due to dampness setting in, you should also check the windscreen wiper rubbers are not stuck to the screen and burn the wiper motor out when you first turn them on.

Also check that the pads have not stuck to the brake disks as well if it’s been sat about a long time wink

When I saw the car, battery was flat, had to release door with release cable inside....nice touch, it reminded me the GT3RS interior door handle lol

That won't necessarily be a totally discharged battery, merely bloody low. You just need to ensure that the battery will keep charge once fully charged up as some didn't after going very very low previously.
