It would seem from these leaked official images that Mclaren's designers were flicking through 1990s CAR magazines and found the XJ220 before the F1 as a exterior inspiration. Much to like inside but there are some design elements that just don't look right to me (tail proportions, pinched headlights, wheel disks?).

I think that will age quite well as - at first glance - it does not look as overdesigend as some recent cars

Following the theme of the XJ220 ending up having the engine out of a Metro, I wonder if McLaren will reveal that actually they are not using the familiar 4L V8 and electric motor, but instead will use the 1.6 Turbo from a Corsa VXR.

The headlights and the front wheels make it ugly. Just improving those would go a long way.

The more I look the more ECO-car it looks. Like the VW XL-1 it looks aero for economy not speed. Is it the wheel disks or is the colour/spec just wrong for the car (like the early Senna pictures?). They don’t seem to do noses well - the lights are such oddities (I’m a 720s headlight hater I confess). I’m so confused. Early 2000s Olds concept car meets XL-1?

For me, it looks to much like a Group C Le Mans car, and not enough like the super-fast luxury GT I expected. I see this looking great with loads of stickers and stripes blatting around a track rather than pulling up outside a film premier.

By God I hope it's fast.....

Leaked photo seems to be pretty close to the design drawings.



I would put it this way, it doesn't look any worse than the Senna or 720S.

Impressive performance figures in the first official article I read but can it really be 5.2m long? That’s as long as a 7-series and almost a metre longer than an F1. Surely that’s a typo...?

20s on Photoshop has fixed the front wheel. But I'm still not sure about it...

So it will cost £1.75M before tax?!? No thanks, if I had that money I’d be in the market for a LaF instead or something similar.
