Cheers - interesting read
The Senna looks like it should be really fast...
I wouldn’t say no to one as my track day car, but alas I can’t afford it and it would probably not be my first choice for the money (even if the other options are likely slower).
A 720 looks like great value for money (as much as a 200k car can be called value for money)

It is strange to have under steer in your topdrawer track car, they obviously don’t trust the owners who buy them are skilled drivers.

Having said that I’m sure it could be dialled out fairly easily.

Well, he can drive well, so he has certain advantages over run of the mill journalists.

I don't agree with his opening statement at all.

base 911's have suffered as a result of the gt3 being so good and are comparatively bland, this is why I moved away from the brand after being unable to secure allocations.

Ditto, 100 per cent!

I bought, drove, loved and lost money on a variety of 911s over a period of around 15 years, including a 996.2 GT3 (bought at 2 years old). But as soon as I tried (and failed miserably) to buy consecutive iterations of the GT3 and RS, I basically became disillusioned and went elsewhere. Apologies for moving off topic!

Yes, but he's just trying to be controversial and it's too obvious, there used to be another motoring journalist that made a career out of fake controversy and I think Chris Harris is trying to emulate that success.

it's certainly inconsistent of him to bring up the aged "what's the point in a focused car which is so expensive when you could buy a dedicated track car instead" argument all of a sudden for the Senna.

but at the end of the day if the Senna suffers from understeering and dull handling characteristics that *is* a valid reason to dislike it.

All journalists are there to sell a story/paper - if no one reads what you write, you're not a very good journalist.

CH has plenty of followers and many respect what he says/writes. I don't feel he's doing anything different to every other journalist here and don't feel he's being too controversial/obvious.

Maybe he's trying to prod a few people to get people talking and you have to say it's worked!

Does anyone actually care what he says. Especially anyone who’s considering a Senna. You’d imagine to get there they have their own decision making capabilities.

And I have no doubt to the average driver on the road this rampant understeer won’t be a factor, more a help than a hindrance.

Judging by the amount of questions on here requesting opinions on car values, depreciation, handling, ownership etc. I think lots of people care what he and other people think. Add in a significant price tag, what he and other journos think is a heavy influence.

Decision however is the buyers.
