Thanks.

NFU refused to give me a cover due to no history or business with them. Shame.

Admiral so far the best quote still high, the lady told me the would need to see the mclaren dealer repair quote and then agree on the refund....

I’ll try Manning as well...any others?

I'd heard the rumours about Admiral conditions so rang them up & was called back by the Prestige Claim handler Chris, confirmed that they already have on board approved McLaren repairers Chartwell Derby / HR Owen / M & A Coachworks & Shorade were coming on with them shortly (Feb when I spoke to them).

In the event of an accident he confirmed he would arrange covered transport to & from the approved repairer FOC.

Windscreens are replaced with genuine McLaren screen on cars up to three years old, can be arranged to be done at a McLaren dealer of your choice to oversee them work which he would arrange.

All seemed above board & straight forward on the phone, well that & the fact I've never claimed in 28 years & hope to continue in the same vein.

Honestly they should accept McLaren dealer as repairers.

Not really sure about their approach...

Eh McLaren dealers don't do bodywork repairs!

All the companies I listed above are authorised McLaren approved body shops, Shorade are the nearest to me here in the Midlands & have a very good reputation as far as I'm aware.

I use a local NFU broker who provides an excellent service and also beat the initial insurance quote from NFUs main office.
I have all my cars with NFU apart from my track car Porsche who is with Aviva Specialist car insurance(includes 5 track days including European tracks)..

What, lol. Really? Yes in a way I understand why...

Then it should be fine with Shorade...

Aviva was only interested in ford focus, which number do I need to ring please?

I used the broker Footman James as NFU has a strict no Track day cover exception..My Track Porsche through FJ is insured with Aviva Specialist Car insurance..They were very competitive considering five track days were included.

I'm sure you will find your Porsche dealers don't do any of their own bodywork repairs either, virtually no dealers do.

They generally sub out to their local brand approved shop.

That's fine as the main point is to retain the warranty.

... Not always fine, as some of the "approved" repairers don't do a very good job, as I've found to my cost on two occasions!

When I was T-Boned in my Range Rover by white van man last year, the insurance company tried to get my local Bristol Street Motors Ford repair shop to do the repairs - I wasn't happy with that. They tried it on with the "we won't provide a courtesy car" excuse, but that didn't wear with me. I insisted it was repaired by a MANUFACTURER approved centre. It was repaired by these guys in Bristol - https://www.sjcurtis.co.uk/know-rights/ - who did a great job. They even arranged for the car to be transported from Gloucester to Bristol + supplied their own courtesy car. It is illegal for the insurance company to dictate where you have the car repaired.

You will also need a McLaren as well as the membership fee as its owners only!

How’s the list of owners kept up to date? What if I sell the car?

Is it not risky to send a pic of the v5 to dont know who?
Can I hide the VIN?

It’s well worth joining. You can mask parts of V5, nothing to worry about
