Also good to hear about McLaren Pure track day experience. I guess I need a dedicated insurance if mine doesn't cover track days?
The insurance isn't a bad price at approx £500.00 for the day, but the excess is an eye watering 10% of value. I got a quote which was £20K excess.
Manning UK includes track day cover in their standard insurance. If you’re going to track they are definitely worth a call.

Great write up thanks for taking the time OP...OK so on the pre and post track day inspection stuff is this actually required to avoid voiding the warranty? Seems a bit rich to me given the prowess of the cars and the fact some come with actual 'track packs'! I'm looking into changing to a 570s this yr and would like to do a few trackdays a yr but if it's gonna cost an extra £1500 for inspections each time its hard to justify tbh.

Maybe I am but I think the fact that they are even required is pushing it tbh

Thank you for the nice write up and pics - I really want one of these, sounds like it would make a great daily car for summer
Lovely colour - looks amazing in the sun
Good to read a thread on here that has not gone off the rails (yet)

Re 10% excess, my normal insurance has 10k euro excess (and costs 5.5k a year) and does not cover track days, so sounds like a decent enough deal to me - UK insurance must be among the cheapest in the world best as I can tell. Recently had to pay for a new windscreen out of pocket as the excess also applies to that

Re warranty - Ferrari takes the cake on that one- you need a pre-inspection to do a Ferrari track day (c 350 euros) and the warranty does not cover track days .... at least that is my understanding

This is mostly true but there are some notable exceptions..One exception is Footman James who i insure whatever car i have which needs track cover..Their excess is £2k IIRC including track days..All my other cars are covered with NFU fleet car policy but strictly forbid track cover..

Thanks for sharing your 720s journey, enjoyed reading it beer

Some comments.

In Europe we get valved exhausts both on the standard and sport versions (USA get no valves and even the stock one has a straight through element) so they don't sound great, I chose standard and then fitted aftermarket (Quicksilver) which saves some weight and gives a much nicer sound than a manufacturer is allowed to give you, would recommend this route.

Those electric seats are just a waste of 15kg from my perspective, it is so easy and much quicker to just slide the seat backwards and forwards as you get in and out.

PZeros are ste, PS4S are next generation tyre ask anyone who's tried them wink

Agree about electric seats and electric steering. Waste of weight (and money). Save the 15kg and many £k.

I set my manual seat and wheel once, and have never needed to again. Of course that only works perfectly if you are tall, as the seat being fully back means it remains easy to get in/out.

Agree about P Zero tyres on a 720S too. Car is too powerful for those IMO.

But the electric seats are heated clap

Agree that the forward/backward bit is better with non-electric. Although I can get my perfect position again after pressing the small memory button after a service.

Re PZeros I shall continue to try and up my driving game so it makes any bit of a damn difference to me which tyres I have driving

Tyres are no big deal. Try different ones when they wear out smile

I might try Michelins (after my Corsas).

I know what your are referring to, and in that way I agree - so much else about a car that capable to explore and enjoy to get hung up on tyres. But at the same time, they are where "the rubber meets the road" and can transform the way any car feels when driven at the limit.

ferrari have voided peoples warranty claims for some things when customers have been on the track with 458's, claiming that they aren't designed to be on the race track
