I didn’t spec this car (learnt my lessons on buying new McLarens with the 12C) so not sure exactly what it would have cost. I believe it came from the MSO “an arm, a leg and your first born” options list and hence was stupidly expensive ... multiple thousands GBP type expensive.

It did help convince me that this was the car for me though biggrin.
laugh

Stunning looking 650 though...love it...

much respect to those who buy shoes and cars to wear and use, and not to look at/collect.

my only issue with this is that I think there arent enough miles being put onto this wink

Like all McLarens, it likes a drink biggrin

The boot was full of my weekly grocery shop ... I always get the odd look that implies “HTF are you going to fit all of that in there?” whenever I’m rolling the trolley back to the car.

Thank you! I’m quite partial to the Punk IPA but find this a better choice if I’m having more than a couple.

Caught out in one of Dubai’s rare(ish) showers today (and I’d just washed it yesterday frown)

Beauty and the beast biggrin

V8, twin turbo, yellow ... what’s not to like? I don’t think Greta would be overly impressed.

The mileage continues to climb with 47k km likely to be passed this weekend. Warranty just extended for another year at the equivalent of approx £3700 so I’m guessing inline with the UK cost.

Jebel Jais trips with like minded individuals continue, the grey cars may as well have not existed as far as the folks queuing to get a chance to sit in and take selfies were concerned ...

If I ever meet Greta, I will ask her to explain to me how we went into and came out of the Ice Age without burning fossil fuels....

Lovely and so good to see them being used. I'm pretty sure most of the issues many cars suffer is in the main from not being used enough or very long lay offs.

Fantastic winter weekend trip on roads like this...

In a car like this...

Resulted in the mileage hitting this...

Great car, which gets used in all conditions, that doesn't have any faults or niggles.

We probably should of used a 600bhp 4x4 that we have for the journey, but the Mac performed perfectly in the light snow, wet / damp roads, and below zero conditions with us cosy inside in supreme comfort.

Cannot recommend McLarens or a 650 spider enough.

Might be worth a tenner now but couldn't care less.

Looks like great fun. I’ve not put a lot of miles on mine recently as I’ve been putting miles on UK rentals instead (I found out what a Vauxhall Mokka was for the first time last week!). Hence yours in the photo above has just over 400 miles more than mine. I’ve also not got a lot to report other than it is up for sale ... If one of the 2 guys coming to view tomorrow pays what I’m asking then mine is worth the equivalent of £76k (original retail prices here are equivalent to UK prices). If they don’t (and I suspect they won’t) then I could be driving those roads above in it in the not too distant future!

£76k.. what a bargain!

So will you get another McLaren?

Another McLaren? I’m really not sure. The 650S has, without a doubt, been the “best”, fastest and dare I say it most fun car I’ve owned (and it’s been pretty reliable biggrin) and therefore I could see another in the future. However, I do worry about how usable such a car would be around the lanes of Devon where we’ll be moving back to. You and others certainly show that the cars can be used in the UK but I’m not 100% convinced at this stage. For quite some time now I’ve had a desire to self assemble a Caterham and had convinced myself that such a car would be more usable in the aforementioned lanes ... but very, very different to a McLaren. There’s only going to be one garage space for the fun car so a decision will need to be made. I’ve started getting quotes to ship the 650S back to the UK so I’ll likely just kick such a decision down the road for 12 months or so (HMRC requirement if I want to import the car tax free is that I cannot sell it for a year).

Ours is a 3rd car and was bought with a view to be used on nice days and special occasions, however due to how comfy it is, how great to drive it is, it can return 30mpg and the fact its a spider at a touch of a button, it now gets used for any possible journey i can use it for.

For a long, long time i had a succession of Ferraris that were not used in the rain or even on the possibility of rain and basically led lives in a heated garage looking pretty; never again...life is too short and in the case of McLarens they lose money hand over fist so i would prefer that to happen whilst using it as much as possible, rather than it sitting under a cover.

The Ferraris made a shed load of cash, but i have enjoyed my McLaren time far more than having safer purchases.

A large part may also be that i am lucky enough to have a very reliable one that surely must go hand in hand with being 'used' hence the mileage...i wouldn't have the patience to deal with an unreliable car so may change my plans for changing to another in the summer...i may just hold onto it.

Best of luck with the sale. thumbup

I made a head over heart decision, dropped the price and finally had a bid which I accepted. This is what the equivalent of approx £70k looks like in Dirhams ...

It’s the first and only car that I’ve sold which I felt sad doing so but it is the correct thing to do at this point in time. I didn’t make it to 50k km, the car was showing just over 48k when I passed it on to its new owner yesterday ... which means I’ve driven over 92k km in McLarens since the 12C launch!

3 cars, 9 years, 92k km, Pure events at Silverstone and Spa, numerous track days at Yas and the Dubai Autodrome and some great local drives and events .... priceless memories.

I need to do some serious thinking about what next (when we return to the UK soon). Mrs Jerry is already saying it would be nice to have another McLaren (which is always a good thing) whereas I’m still thinking self assembly Caterham (420R) ... Watch this space!

I would rather have an accident in a McLaren than a Caterham. Just food for thought
