Yep. I bought a car that I really shouldn't be able to afford.The ownership so far has been frustrating, and constantly annoying. And, if the car continues to throw issues like this between now and Spring, then I will likely sell it - whether that's for £90k, £75k or £1.50 - who knows.
However, here's the bottom line : Annoying though it is - I don't regret buying it. I may have said I'm reaching that point a couple of times when I was throwing my toys out the pram - but I don't. It's an amazing car, and I've glad I've experienced it - and will continue to for at least a few months. If it continues to throw errors, I'll sell it and probably not buy another one. But I'll still be glad I had one. And if it does start behaving - it really will be astounding.

It's rather the same with Range Rovers - the non-owners are the ones most wrapped up in the reliability issues...and SUVs generally - the non-owners are the most vociferous about the drawbacks of the class. All tarred with the same brush, despite as wide a variety (or wider) than any other class of vehicle.
It says rather a lot about human nature IMHO.
Me...I'd love a Mac, any Mac, sat on my drive alongside a FFRR.

Well, you are most certainly in the minority...i can say hand on heart almost everytime i park up the mac in anywhere apart my driveway someone wants to engage in either a quick compliment or an actual chat...Yeah, I'd happily say that to any McLaren driver I met.
Not once has anyone mentioned tanking values, lack of indies or repair costs.
In fact, none of your topics would be in my top 100 questions if i bumped into a performate owner at a petrol station etc.

Couldn’t agree more (as a serial Ferrari owner). Seems an easy buy at this price given that the most you could ever lose is £90k no matter how long you keep the car! You’d lose a similar amount in 1-2 years if brand new. Enjoy your new ride 650spider said:

The statement was made that people wouldn't dare make negative to comments to owners faces in real life.. I certainly would in the context t of a conversation. Just like I've had jokey banter with my neighbour about his white Bentley conti...I would never buy one in a million years but he doesn't take offence in the same way I dont take offence when he calls me a caveman for having a manual donkey...

If i parked up and an individual started talking about tanking values, lack of indies, large repair bills or other stuff i have absolutely no real interest in, i would politely point out i have to be somewhere else...
Well.. as long as everyone is being super polite and complimentary bully for you... if me and you were in a hypothetical conversation and you asked me about negative perceptions about the metal and rubber I happen to own I certainly wouldn't feel the need to abort the conversation...

Loosing any coolant isn't good for modern high performance petrol engines. If the car ran for even a relatively short time with low coolant it can lead to local hot-spots (usually on the exhaust side of the cylinder heads).
Depending on how hot these condition persist it can lead to very slight distortion which, in turn, can lead head gasket issues in the future or when the maximum power is used.
Its the same reason that any high performance turbo-charged petrol engine should be allow to idle for a few moments after a run to dissipate residual heat build up - these conditions 'can' raise the coolant pressure which will eject coolant and sometimes blow hoses and cheap hose clips
I'm sure McLaren will do a pressure tests but it might be worth asking.

McLaren were very good. Less than a week. New catalytic converter and all the other little bugs fixed too at the same time.
They threw in a factory tour and a pure driving day as an apology which is nice!
