let.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet here bud. How much do Thorney Motorsport charge for the inspection ? Seems like a good move IMO
I believe it was £250 or thereabouts, worth every penny in that instance. I ended up with a new 600 Spider so obviously the 650 was not meant to be. First world problems and all that☺️

So another update from me now over 6 months into ownership. So far the cars been fantastic and a really positive ownership experience not only in how it makes me feel but in the reactions from and interactions with random people of which there have been many. Double trackday at the Ring on the horizon in mid July so left her in to have a pre trackday inspection to make sure it's in tip-top shape for the assault on the Green Hell! A few items came up and had I not extended the warranty in Feb would have left me with quite a hefty bill. So a front damper is leaking hydraulic fluid so that needs replacing, the bushings on both the lower and upper suspension arms are split and perishing so all 4 arms will be replaced...I was aware of the top arm bushings as this was flagged to me in Feb as the prev owner didn't pay to replace them as he had the car in between warranties so that item only covered again once someone pays for em ( me!). All told not far off £6k for all of that of which approx £4400 is covered. Car has just over 20k on the clock of which I've covered 3500. Just to compare my V12 Vantage never had anything other than normal services and consumables (tyres and brake pads) and same for the R8 V10 before it. Are the suspension arm bushings a common issue at that kind of mileage? Anyway I'm ahead on my warranty purchase for this yr already but I guess the parts being replaced now will be good for a few yrs at least. As often said these cars may have halved in price but they still coming with the running costs of a £170k car.
Did McLaren let you extend the warranty back in Feb without replacing the top arm bushings? I didn't think they would extend until all issues were rectified.

If so, was it only them that was not covered that you had to contribute £1600?

On year 3, and again year 4, mines had slight damp showing on dampers on opposite corners...McLaren replaced them where Thorney keeps an eye on them.

If not covered under an expensive warranty, i would personally be happy with keeping an eye on it and only changing it if it worsened....it seems to be a common issue.

Wish i was going on your impending trip...going solo or group of you?

Yes they allowed me extend without replacing them but the item was flagged so I knew I’d have to cover cost of those myself whenever I got around to it. Now that they are being replaced the warranty covers them again...shame the prev owner didn’t fork out but prob wasn’t that pressing an issue for him. The fact that I’m doing a double trackday at the ring meant the technicians felt all these items should be replaced ...at least I can take comfort in knowing the car is fully prepped and ready for action. Meeting a buddy over there if you haven’t been it’s an amazing place, I went first in 2014 more to tick the box but I was hooked and have been every year since .

Regarding suspension bushings I ran a golf gti as a daily between March 2016 (Brand new) and January 2020 and it seemed to need new suspension bushes every 6-8 month I was shocked at how bad that was tbh my old mans Range Rover also went through suspension bushes I know they replaced them at every annual service as he complained about it

Not sure if you can replace just the individual bushings on a Golf but the whole arm has to be replaced on a 570s which makes it quite expensive!
