Am I mad to look at a Mclaren instead of a Porsche 911?
Discussion
I was speaking a large multinational retailers manager and they have told by their dad office to "hold on to your cash as things gong to get very hard for next 2 years "
So I am guessing this could be a temporary blip in the market driven by people buying themselves a sports car with the various monies available to small business . Even my bank manager said they only expect 40% of BIL / BBL loans to ever be repaid
Once the initial buying frenzy dies down I suspect the next couple of years could be tough on the sports car market . But only Time will tell and at present sports cars selling like hot cakes . So if you are selling or thinking of getting out your Mac etc now may be a golden moment

So, getting the thread back on track, what is your intention? So I am guessing this could be a temporary blip in the market driven by people buying themselves a sports car with the various monies available to small business . Or maybe people have finally realised the ones on the market will be the best supercars for a while, due to emission legislations.
McLaren moving to a V6 sounds like when Porsche moved all Cayman to Turbo. There’s always room for recovering like they’ve done with GT4, but it’s still a compromised engine with crappy exhaust. But again GT4 is still fine.
I am just scared by where the industry is going, current supercars with little if no contraints from stringent legislation will become well sought after, unless they ban it from the road.
Be prepared for lots of hybrid cars. Well I am definitely not.

Absolutely no idea TBH.Went to the Porsche dealer and they have pretty much sold out of all their used 911 stock, only 3 used cars left.
Mclaren 570S / Gt also in short supply now.
I am in no hurry as lease car goes back in Nov, but now sorted out a new daily driver.
The original ideas was to get a 911 as a daily driver (10K miles per year). But now no hurry so will wait and see what comes up .
But the problem is still trying to get a test drive to finally say yes that is the car I want
Presently only driven a 2013 991.1 C4S and that was nice.
Ideally I would like to try
991.2 Carrera 2s
992 Carrera base model
Mclaren 57S any
Mclaren 570Gt any
Then decide what is the best fit.
On the plus side my budget is looking better as Mrs A not out shopping or planning any holidays.
Downside I might have to wait till December January to get the car I want or later, but no hardship tbh

I think with cities like London making it expensive for fossil fuel cars to enter it is only time that companies make hybrid versions. But is that a bad thing as a Porsche / McLaren is ideally suited to Hybrid. Maybe get say 50 miles on electric for the town bit and then use the petrol engine for a bit of fun McLaren moving to a V6 sounds like when Porsche moved all Cayman to Turbo. Hybrid means more weight, heavier car, less fun as well imho as less old school.
Really not for me, unless we’re talking holy trinity.
Long live internal combustion engines. Luckily where I stay ( North East Scotland) I do not need to worry about congestion charging , just a fun car form spree great roads on my doorstep Really not for me, unless we’re talking holy trinity.

Anything being made now is already of little interest....GPF have muted cars and that’s going to get a lot worse in the next few years. Don’t see me ever buying a sports/fun car made from now onwards. There are some awesome cars in the back catalogue of all these brands...that’s where my money is going. I've lost interest in new cars, until i watched an U tube yesterday on Rory Reid's new Huracan EVO RWD review..No GPFs, no Turbos, no 4WD and no RWS..It reminded me of old school supercars with its glorious noise and £40K cheaper than the F8 Tributo..This is my current favourite new mid engine supercar.Taffy66 said:

Yes I watched that video myself, most enjoyable. Autotrader seem to be spending the cash on these video reviews, tbh you could have quite easily believed that it was off a Top Gear Episode......... Cheib said:

Fully agree. It’s a nice time to be on the market, lots of good ones to pick. In few years it’ll get worse and worse.
Purple patch for supercars is definitely 2016 to 2018 IMHO.Since then it's being going down hill.
Pick of the bunch is probably a McLaren 675 LT spider which at todays prices seems a steal and where my money would be going if I had some spare cash
