I can only speak as a 650 and 675 owner.

To be fair, I’ve not had a problem with either. 650 is a very very late one. The 650 needed air con regassing but that is it.

My opinion is that a 2016 car was a peak of quality as it had all the experience from 12C onwards.

And the 675 was additional built on what became the ultimate series line, so perhaps that added a bit extra quality.

Post 2016, new models with increased production meant a lot of new things and learning.

Im very very happy with my 675, have no concerns of reliability and am hoping covid is soon over to take the next epic road trip around Italy in it.

I’ve had my 675LT for coming up 1 year. Only issue I’ve had is the radio stopped. Harwoods fixed and it’s just stopped again, not a big deal as the noise is pretty cool inside.

I did 2,200 miles in my 675LT this winter when I bought in Jan till lock-down, so 6 weeks. Absolutely no issues at all. It has been fantastic. Talking with other owners its a similar experience, very few have issues with the 675LT even owners who have had from new and done 10k miles plus say its the most reliable McLaren. As stated above there was 5 years + practice with the other P11 cars before they made the 675LT so most, if not all of the issues, with the 12C / 650S had been ironed out.
Pics?

As well as being very reliable I will also add that my 675LT is the car my wife likes the most as a passenger, she prefers it to my Exige 430 (no surprises there) but also my 981 Spyder. In fact when we went away for 300 miles for a weekend just before lock-down she asked to go in the 675LT, even with the buckets she says it is very comfortable as a passenger.

I just about dallied mine from Jan to March as it was new to me and it was fine, the only drawbacks are the turning circle, which is not as tight as a 650S but it never gave me any problems, and raising the lift before speed bumps in time. Again that isn't an issue as I know the roads and where to start raising and that's no different to a 650, in fact the 675LT has dual axle lift, not just front axle, so when its up its kind of like a Land Rover and you can go anywhere!

Other pleasant surprises are the fuel economy on motorways, can be up to 40mpg but 36 mpg not unusual, see pic over 100 mile motorway journey. This gives amazing range. When you are 'on it' though it will drink like a proper supercar :-) Its just good to have the split personality, something you can't do in some Italian supercars when its just 15mpg all the time.

Is the coupe more desirable than the spyder?

Any differences/nuances in the way they drive? Also I hear about 650s spyder roofs leaking? Is this an issue on 675 LT? Any info appreciated.

Personal preference I suppose. I prefer the cleaner looks of the coupe but there are no real driving benefits (or so i'm told) over the spider other than a few kilos in weight. If you have the club sport professional pack then it comes with cage and harness bar which spider can't. Also I really like the shelf in the coupes, not only the 675 but the 650 & 12C, the amount of additional luggage space and space for coats, bags etc. you can get in the cabin is very useful. Also prefer to see the engine through the hatch with the coupes.

As I said its a personal preference, I also have 3 convertibles so having a coupe 675LT was not a problem for me. Its one of the few cars where because of the carbon tub there is no real sacrifice in driving dynamics. Not heard of anyone having a leaky roof, I am sure a spider owner will be along soon to confirm.

I bought from Manchester and yes I would buy again from them again they were fine, even though it was at the height of JayEmmGate :-) I would buy from any approved McDealer bar one, I won't say which one here but it's the usual suspect. I would also buy from from AB without hesitation but won't go into that again ;-)

it's the servicing that's important and I have a great relationship built up with Bell & Covill through years of Lotus ownership so my McLaren & Lotus go there. I have also bought a 12C from Birmingham and they were good to me too.

I think if you really want one make sure its the right car for you and buy on spec and if something isn't 100% it can be changed, as I said yesterday there are not many around but 99% of them will be in very good condition as they are owned by enthusiasts. Its a low volume hand made British Sports Car, its a different experience to owning a Porsche or Audi and you need to get your head tuned into that.

I need to visit B&C at some point. I've been generally happy with the dealer I bought the car from (although I suspect it's the one you won't mention!) but I've heard such positive things about B&C it's tempting to move

Their new workshop in Guildford is very impressive, I was given a 'safe' tour yesterday. The team are very good and their work has always been faultless in the years I have used them, I would recommend you give them a go if you are local. Plenty of loan cars too, they have a BMW for McLaren owners but if you are not fussy just take a Nissan Squashqui and you will get seen much quicker as the availability of 'posh' loan cars at all McDealers can be restrictive with the availability.

Not really on desirability,
Only coupe options people drool over is the scoop, and harness bar, both very rare.
675 is a little stiffer than 650 and the turning circle is larger, but other than that it is completely different to drive wink
Never had any issue with leaking roof on the 650 or 675 over 27k miles between the two and they got used all over Europe come sun or rain.

It’s just personal preference.

Some prefer wind in the hair of a spider. Ability to drop rear window with roof up is very nice.

Coupe has a little more interior room as you can fit some extra bags on shelf behind seats. Coupe clubsport with harness bar allows for use of harnesses, so coupe clubsport is desirable for those preferring track work. Roof scoop is also coupe only, and also desirable for some. There are a very very few scoops with harness bar.

Typically a spider or roof scoop seems to be 20-30k+ a coupe. It doesn’t look like club sports are selling at a premium from the last 12 months, in time I suspect they will be.

I’ve not experienced any roof leaking problems. I like having a spider, tho the rear/back of the coupe of my coupe def looked better.

Oh, and as for how a coupe vs spider drives, a coupe is about 40kg lighter. As McLarens are based on a carbon tub, the spiders are far far less compromised than spiders of other manufacturers.

I will leave to to the pro race drivers to comment on how they compare but my understanding is you’ll need to be at that level, on track, to really be noticing a difference. I.e. you almost certainly won’t.

Funny isn't it, my other half also prefers my 720 over all my cars. They do the weekend getaway stuff really well, very impressed with it........ when it worked.
Thanks for the breakdown, really useful.

Took 2 years for one like this to come up for sale. Chicane grey with club sport professional pack (includes all CF packs, titanium harness bar & cage. CF air brake and track telemetry) . Mine has the CF bonnet too :-) I would have gone for papya spark too and done without the club sport professional pack but was such a bonus when I bought it. Its the same spec as Jenson Buttons & Jay Kays (except he has a roof scoop, £30k option). There are some nice MSO coloured ones too but they rarely come up for sale as the owners just keep them.
