Hi all,

Lucky enough to have bought a Gallardo Spyder last week. 2008 with 30k on the clutch. Egear which I actually really like! It’s just had a major service and a clutch change.

Love the car so far however wanted to check with fellow owners about engine noise. I’m aware of the usual Gallardo issues and the car has a small whine coming from the rear when I’m gear. Not very loud but noticeable to me when windows are down or roof is off. Drop it into Neutral and the noise is gone. Not sure if it’s gearbox or clutch? Or the new clutch bedding in?

ETA - Just saw on another forum the diff can be noisy on a Gallardo and whine without the right oil. Sounds like the issue. How easy to swap out diff oil or is it a garage job?

Spoke to the dealer who has been excellent so far and said it was totally normal (?) however came from a F430 Spyder and didn’t hear anything like this in that one.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Lewis

Hi can't help with the whine - I don't get that noise at all... will be interested to know how it feels driving the G compared to the F430... I found the Gallardo took a few hundred miles to really push into its capabilities as it was so much more planted than my old 360... which initially I thought was an inertness to drive.... later I realised that at the same pace as in the 360 I was probably only 7/10th in the Gallardo.... and obviously the more I got used to the car the more and more involving the chasis / engine became... only downside to me is the brakes aren't as responsive as on the Ferrari.... enjoy your new purchase!! I've now had mine 3 years and been through 2 major services and 1 minor... still not wanting to let go yet........

Congrats on your new car

Is it the same whine sound as when you open the car door on cold start?

Very similar experience for me. I found my F430 was much more nimble and felt lighter to drive. Possibly something to do with the RWD. Where as compared to my 360 I find it night and day (age being an obvious factor). I thought the 360 was relatively slow for what it was but absolutely loved the car. Possibly one of my favourites. The G however is starting to feel better and better the more I drive it!

Yes quite similar. Are you thinking it's a pump?
