What a curious club !
A general ( as in non-marque specific ) car club that aims to limit membership .
Why ?
Why does it need to be exclusive ?
It is hardly the Athenaeum or the Pitt is it ?
Why is it only open to owners and not to all enthusiasts ?
Surely it is limiting its access to knowledge , ardour , zeal and brio by excluding some of the most fervent , ardent and well informed car fanatics .
Driving a car is not the only way of enjoying it !
Certainly some of the car people I most gel with couldn't begin to afford the cars on this club's list , but believe me , they are more learned and enthusiastic about cars than most supercar / sportscar owners .
And a car enthusiast's club that excludes a Series 1 MX5 ( as just one example of many ) begs the question as to who decides , and on what basis , why some cars are granted the unique privilege of belonging to this supposedly '' exclusive private '' club , and others are not .
On what objective criteria would anyone sensible exclude a front mid-engined convertible with double wishbone suspension , fully adjustable suspension geometry , narrow , softly sprung , good outward visibility , manual , normally aspirated , and with narrow tyres so that power and torque match or slightly exceed grip ?
On the basis that it is too affordable or that it is too common ?
That is almost as cringe-worthy as talking up a common car club as being ' exclusive ' and ' private '.
To whoever is running this club , open it up to anyone interested in cars - you'll get a more informed and ardent membership - which will be to everyone's benefit .

Dementia setting in. Anyway, the club was only started in April, but has swelled to 1k+ members. There's a lot of McLaren owners in it, as well as many other Marques. The BMM is the inaugural meet (100+ cars, possibly 200), although there has been two one-off events:
Youtuber PetrolPed contacted the club to ask if there was availablity of some cars for a special event at Goodwood to help celebrate a young lads 18th birthday.
Lovecars, with Tiff Needell, worked with the Club to provide some cars for a drag race. There's more drag races to come.

Hi MAC 720S - , Yes , I'm miffed because it smacks of simple minded snobbery .
From your previous postings , i know that you love your cars .
Should you in anyway be excluded from indulging in that passion simply because you couldn't afford to buy one ?
Reading this club's advert , threw me back to Feb 1986 .
I had just started my first job .
It was as House Surgeon to Prof Sir Roy Calne , the Professor of Surgery at Cambridge , and was arguably the most sought after and prestigious junior doctor's post in the UK .
I worked an 18 hour day , and had a weekend off every fortnight .
For this I was paid the princely sum of £600/ month , and Autocar told me that my dream car then cost £58,800 ( By 1988 the same car cost £86600)
Even with my almost non-existent mathematical skills , I worked out that getting hold of this car was going to be a trifle difficult .
But i had been following that model of car since 1971 , and knew tons about it . Tons and tons .
Should i have been excluded from getting more intimate with this model simply because i couldn't own one ?
The exact same issues surface with regards to this car club - and the unashamed snobbery makes me cringe on the behalf of the organizers .
To talk about ' private ' and 'exclusive ' - for the sake of God , its a car club , not a nomination for the Nobel prize .

It’s a car owners club for events, not an online free-for-all forum such as PH. I think you have got the wrong end of the stick. I doubt any of the members joined to discuss the size of their pistons or how to trail brake (whatever that is). There are marque specific forums and dedicated clubs if an owner is interested in that type of thing. Please don’t keep me updated. To be fair carspath if it's a supercar club it doesn't seem unreasonable to own a supercar to qualify to enter. Like you I have a Lotus and I'm not sure why they stipulate post 2010 as all of Lotus' best cars were made in or prior to 2010 but there are always going to be grey areas around the edges.
Likewise a 570 would be out of place at the local Lotus meet. If you want to beard out on tech stuff just head up to a Lotus meet and look for the group in the corner wearing sandals

Hadn't heard of it, but just sent a request to join. I am free on the 16th, so might.
Already seems to be plenty going on with the McLaren owners and the Drivers Union so not sure I really need another group. But might be interesting I guess.

In any event there will always be a bit of snobbery in any Supercar club with car restrictions, there certainly is within the Mclaren owners club with the Senna and 675LT brigade looking down their noses at us mere mortals with a 720s or less.
