So this was an unexpected expense of Mclaren ownership........ didn't realise where the car sleeps would become important smile

So earlier in the thread I put up pictures of some basic / easy garage improvements, new floor and white washing the walls. Well now I've got the bug. So as well as making it more versatile, I like the idea of being able to pull a car in there at an angle and get my detailing on smile So that pesky middle post had to go:

This.....

...started to become this.......

Then a nice remote controlled roller shutter door, no more having to keep getting in and out of Mclaren every time I pull out or in to the garage (1st world problems)

It didn't stop there, now I'm thinking about humidity levels (starting to get a bit obsessive now) so bought a decent dehumidifier with smart / wifi controls, I can even keep an eye on temp and humidity in the garage, change settings, set up schedules etc all from the app on my phone smile (love a gadget)_

So now the Mclaren and its bed mate get to enjoy a humidity / temperature controlled garage. I think I need to get myself checked! That being said, I think I'm going to get a proper ceiling put in there, get it insulated and boarded with hatch to store stuff up there. Then some nice LED lights. Then I might move in there biggrin

Im getting a very very similar double garage to single garage done this weekend. Builders land on Friday. Door being installed on Tuesday.

Really looking forward to not having to inch in and out with mirrors folded and half a cm each side of space. The 12c was tight. The 720 is breathe-in tight.

Plus room to work each side!

FWIW, additional garage being built adjacent to the floor-to-ceiling windows of my media room. Raising the projector screen up will give a direct view of the inside of the garage. Need to decide which car will reside there…..

Bump on this thread to ask for the summer drives. How is the 720s?

Good prompt, thanks smile And sorry for the lack of updates! To summarise, still loving the 720. It's almost a year since I bought it and I'm still in that honeymoon phase! Any excuse to use it, I'll use it. And plans to use it, even if its just to pick the missus up from the station, I find myself looking forward to it so much! To the point where if plans change I get in a right mood! biggrin Seriously (I actually think I may have a problem)

Anyway, following on from my last post where I was updating the garage, that is pretty much finished now. Twin entrance to wide single, electric roller shutters and now a ceiling with loft area.

My helmets were taking up quite a bit of racking so found them a home, really like the way that's turned out (I'm easily pleased)

Next thing is to somehow find a way of tidying up all that storage area at the back.

I've been out loads in it over the summer. At the weekend I attended Silverstone Classic with the Sporting Bears giving "dream rides" for a children's charity. That was really good. First time I've done anything with them, didn't know what to expect. When I arrived they said they'd be putting a minimum donation of £60 on my car. I thought I'd hardly get any bookings. However before they even opened they had 3 people book, by the end of the day I'd given 13 rides and raised £800! Managed to burn through about £130 of fuel and gained a chip on my windscreen (which has since been repaired) It was a lot of fun taking people out, they loved it. I enjoyed driving and taking about the car all day, and we raised money for a good cause. I'll definitely do that again.

Only picture I got that day, next to two others giving rides

Then joined the Mclaren Owners Club this week, to see what that's all about. Meeting a couple of local (ish) members for an early drive out over the weekend. That is where I get most of the use out of it, I get up really early in the morning and just go for a drive when the roads are nice and empty.

Oh, annual service is next up. Planning to take it back to McManchester for that as this one is complimentary. Bit of a long slap to get there for me, but I'll take the scenic route across the peaks so not too much of a hardship smile

Hey all. Sorry for the lack of updates, been too busy enjoying it! smile

So just had my 1 year anniversary with the car, over 7,000 miles covered and enjoyed every minute. Reliability wise its been great. I picked up a chip in the windscreen at that charity event, a few weeks later a stress crack appeared. Fortunately this happened just before it went in for its annual service so a new windscreen fitted under warranty - result! Picked up some chips and a light scuff on a few of the alloys, McManchester refurbed them all (to ensure a good match) free of charge! Talk about going above and beyond! Their new premises is very impressive, they also have their own bodyshop now, probably why they were able to do that with the wheels. I know its only something minor, but it makes good business sense. They're not my local dealer and now I've had my complimentary service I could well be tempted to use a more local dealer, but they've built up some goodwill with me now. Other dealers should take note!

Anyway, no plans to sell the car, just can't see what I would go to around the price point. Even if I put another £50-75k towards it?? I've put a deposit down on an Emira, depending how that works out I might look to swap them both out for a Spider at some point, I do miss having the roof down.

I'll try to update this more frequently. Few pictures, 'cos everyone loves pictures...

Great shot my a photographer friend at CarNatter:

And one I took on my phone whilst watching him do his thing....

A picture with my little track toy:

SupercarFest @ Shelsley Walsh - that was fun!

A rare shot when they're all at home at the same time!!....

Just half of McManchester new service centre!

A reliable McLaren, shock & horror, but my mates uncles neighbour had one and.....

My 675LT has been utterly reliable in 20 months and 7k miles, amazing cars, so well engineered. I cant think of any other car that is made by an F1 manufacturer that can be a total weapon on track yet so comfortable on the road AND is so light and well engineered that it can do 0-100MPH in 5.1 seconds yet return 36MPG at 70 mph on the motorway, astonishing.....

Not sure how I’ve previously missed this thread, but just read it from the start and really enjoyed it. Stunning 720s you have, and your other cars look great too. Look forward to seeing future updates, and followed you on Instagram too.

They replaced the windscreen under warranty? For a stone chip.

Surprised the manufacturer stumped up for that.

No that’s not what I said. I said it had a chip, but then a stress crack appeared, that’s why they replaced the windscreen under warranty
