570 Spider Launch Edition - when did it stop being produced?

Does anyone know for how long the 570 Spider launch edition cars were produced? I assumed all were 2017 or early 2018 cars so most would now be coming out of the original warranty. However, one's just popped up in the classifieds as a 2019. Does that mean it was sat around in a dealer's/warehouse for a year or two before being registered? If so, could be one to avoid!

Yes, a 2019 has been sat somewhere unregistered......most of the launch cars were bundled out the door at the outset to people that were usually wanting to build a history with a dealer by buying an early car (that they couldn't spec) and then get early access to another they could spec or an early 720s etc etc...........

The launch cars were a bit of a disaster........the idea was that they were prebuilt and hitting the streets straight after Goodwood FOS I think it was........but most ended up rolling in the Autumn, missing the summer months.......

if you like the car and it's a decent spec, price and condition then buy it.........I wouldn't pay a penny more over a standard car though.......

Mine was a launch edition car built Oct 17, registered new March 18.

I'd like to think they may have been assembled with a bit more care as I have to say my car has been almost faultless. Just an occasional bit of McLaren quirky behaviour like the comfort entry not going back to its correct setting & a minor trim issue in over 2.5 years & 9000 miles, love it!

Trouble is, it's priced as a 2019 car, so 10 to 15K too much, really. OK, you'd get one to two years extra OEM warranty compared with a 2017 registered one but its not worth the premium. I know its not really the case but you could argue it's missed the first two services as well!
There'd be no wear and tear in the first couple of years of its life but some things do degrade over time even if it's not being used. Personally I think it's should be worth less than a 2017 car, not more!

Personally, I would find a cheaper one, with good miles on it and best possible spec.

Save cash and most likely shall have any niggles ironed out.
