Hi guys, just curious on some thoughts to the below:

Warranties, any preference between Mclaren & Thorney?

Track pack, is it worth it, they seem rarer to find?

Is buying through the dealer network advised?

If you're buying through the dealer network then the car should come with Mclaren approved warranty which i believe does cover most things, Im sure someone else will confirm if theres anything it doesn't cover over the new car warranty.

Personally I would buy an approved used car from an official dealer as they will prioritise you and get in quick if it goes wrong, which in my experience it undoubtably will, If you buy outside the network you could be waiting a while to get it in for repair.

Good luck on the search.

The warranties are pretty much the same price.......the Thorney warranty has a £10k payment limit but this because they prefer to fix an item rather than the McLaren approach of simply replacing anything defective, no matter what is wrong with it.

The only thing worth having in the track pack is the P1 seats........Track pack was an extra £16k which is a lot for P1 seats, a slightly higher rear wing and the Track telemetry app and cameras........it therefore depends how much you want these things and how much you are prepared to pay for them.

Read the reviews of the Track pack, some lightweight bits and also the P1 telemetry and full alcantara interior. Definitely a rarer option on the car.

The carbon bucket seats make a massive difference to any Mclaren when driving. Both my Mclarens have had them. I changed from standard seats in my older 12c to the carbon buckets.

Thanks for the replies and pm's gents.

There was a nice volcano yellow with the track pack the other week but the advert has now gone.

If anyone is selling something suitable, not necessarily a track pack, please get in touch.

McLaren Hatfield have a really high spec blue one for sale and it would include a years warranty...I'd be all over that if I didn't have one already!

I'm looking for a spider in (I can't decide) either orange. volcano orange, or the light blue (curacao/fistral) - so equally, if anyone considering selling, please get in touch.

Track pack is a defo yes if you like race seats and alcantara interiors. Plus rare extended rr spoiler although not noticed by many. It enhances the true spirit of a McLaren car, race feel and lightweight parts (seats and wheels).

The track pack takes the kerb weight under 1300kg which is what lured me in. Then once you drive the car with those seats, it all makes sense.

Have I ever used the telemetry however? no. Ha.

Read the reviews, Top Gear, Evo, Auto Express, Drivetribe, Auto Car. They all rave about it.

Yes I'd love to have the buckets tbh but when I was buying trackpacks were so rare and quite a bit more expensive when they did come up...I've considered just buying the seats outright but £8k seems to be the min price for them v expensive!

Thanks Gunso, preferably looking for:

Venturi Orange
Papaya Spark
Volcano Yellow

or one of the light blues which there seem to be few of.
