570s Questions

On the subject of "570s questions" as it's not worth starting another thread for this question ...!
Is there any significant improvement in the B&W audio over the standard one? Or are they both just varying degrees of rubbish!
There seem to be a lot of post launch edition cars that have pretty much the full non-cosmetic option list apart from the B&W. Obviously the LE cars included it with the luxury pack.
Personally, I really like the look of the B&W speakers through the door grilles but if there's no other benefit then it's probably not worth worrying whether or not a car has it!
I have my 570s that i ordered from new. The additional cost of the B&W was over £3k. I sat in a car with the 4 speaker system and that was poor, the 8 speaker system was much better and the B&W was a bit better but not significant enough for me to add the extra £3k to the order sheet, so went with the 8 speaker system. Is there any significant improvement in the B&W audio over the standard one? I still have the 570s and now have a 600LT that has the B&W and not once have been in either car and even noticed a difference in the sound quality.........I certainly wouldn't miss out on an ideal car just because it didn't have the B&W system.......

My 570s Spider in Ventura Orange may soon be on the market.
One of my desired colours - don't want to queue jump but do send details - you can't be emailed but can email me (see profile).....I love my music in the car and when originally looking, B&W sound was a must. But the car I went for didn't have it, it was the compromise. I don't miss it, I tend to find when I'm driving the Mac I have the music on as just a bit of background, I want to hear everything else going on. The few journeys I have done where I'm just cruising up the motorway, the standard stereo is just fine, still enjoyable. Upgraded audio also adds a load of weight, if that's your thing

Thanks Sarnie. I actually hadn't realised the standard was a 4 speaker system - I wrongly thought the 8 speaker was the base! So I think I'll put B&W on the "nice to have" list and the 8 speaker upgrade on the "must haves". At least until I've compared them myself if I ever do ...

That was my conclusion too. I wouldn't have bought the 600LT with the 4 speaker system, but would not have passed it up if it didn't have the B&W So I think I'll put B&W on the "nice to have" list and the 8 speaker upgrade on the "must haves". +1. Too much ambient noise to make much difference, even if you didn’t have the backlight down! All for B&W in a quiet room though.....

Nice setup. Years ago I had Matrix 2's attached to a Quad 77 system but no real HiFi now as I live in my GF's house and I'd not presume. Only have 4 speaker system in the 540 but it does what it needs to do and I really don't see why you'd want to pay an extra £3k for HiFi in a car? I have JBL system in my Rav 4 and it's OK but it's not really much better than the standard system to my ears All for B&W in a quiet room though.....

Back to the B&W system in the Mclaren, As good as it is when cranked up, it does make the car rattle... Badly.
Now before anyone gets offended, yes you do get that occasionally on other supercars with upgraded systems but the Mclaren IMO was the worst for me so probably best worth avoiding and going for the standard set up as others have mentioned.
Oddly enough on my lesser M5 that has the B&W upgrade, which again IMO is the best system i've ever had in any car, it doesn't rattle at all.

To be honest if you are enjoying your mclaren you won't hear any music. I only listen to it when in slow moving traffic. All other times its off , The music comes from the sound of the engine.
I have a B&O system in my V8, think I've turned it on 2 times in over 4 years of ownership!Chappo1 said:
