Be gentle with me

I picked up a 720 Spider last week. Based on previous experience with McLaren hand overs I would check the petrol flap will open; the door alignment is flush with the rear quarter panel; the door rubber seals are fitted correctly and not trapped; the rear window seal is correctly aligned when the roof is shut. Assuming it has electric seats, have a practise with the buttons. If there is a more awkward and fiddly arrangement I have yet to experience it. I would make sure the roof works, not that it won’t but just to be impressed and entertained by how it works.
Make sure the battery charger is included as McL do have parasitic drain.
As others have said, cold damp roads may not be the best place to check whether it is 720hp at the wheels.
Enjoy.

This is helpful for me too - did you have a pre-collection trip to check this over so they could fix it before you took delivery? Or did they do it on the day, or are you taking it back to be done later?Make sure the battery charger is included as McL do have parasitic drain.

They were separate occasions. The first was a new 2016 650S spider where the dealer had shipped the car to Topaz for PPF. On handover at Topaz the fuel cap wouldn’t open. Car went back to dealer and then delivered to me at home a week later all sorted. The problem was the alignment of a small pin that holds the fuel flap closed. It is a known but perhaps not common fault albeit one with consequences. The new 2019 720 coupe was delivered to my home and it was only later I noticed a misalignment of the driver’s door where it closed against the rear quarter. Car was collected and problem sorted. The rear quarter panel is shimmed, and it can be an iterative process to achieve a perfect alignment. Again, a known issue and one where the factory relied on the dealers to rectify if required.
Different McL dealers involved and both excellent.

Like the other poster I am joining the club and pick up a 720s Spider next week.
Interested in any tips or pre-delivery advice, car was an unbelievable deal but now having a panic Hoping to get out and about in the Summer.
That looks great Neill, will you be replacing any of the fleet or is it just an addition?Interested in any tips or pre-delivery advice, car was an unbelievable deal but now having a panic Hoping to get out and about in the Summer.

Was looking to sell the Aston but having told the kids last night, the advice was to put it in the garage and lock the door. They love the sound of the V12 Definately a heart choice not a head choice!
