I for one, won’t be renewing, but will revert back to the McLaren extended warranty. It’s more expensive, but my money is safe.
Hi. Tried to send you an email but your account is hidden and wont accept emails, if you have one of our warranties and are unhappy then let me know and I will refund it for you. Edited by TommyTerrible on Tuesday 9th November 23:14

I’m sure if John was concerned about this whole topic, he would probably have good cause to have it removed.
This whole topic acts as an audit trail for a potential legal dispute in support of Johns case - reputation damage - loss of business etc. caused by a ridiculous decision to withhold parts, clearly in breach of the MVBER’s.
John has responded to all criticism and questions throughout this whole thread in a calm, objective and fair manner.
He’s probably sat back in his office chair right now, with a big grin on his face - he’s no fool. Hopefully he is taking screenshots just in case it does get removed at the request of another party.
He’s a micro-business being bullied by a large enterprise (TB993tt, that’s over 250 employees mate).
A recent PH 720S buyers guide even makes reference to this thread.
I may dress up in female clothes, but it doesn’t have the McLaren logo on it.
Well that’s the biggest bit of back peddling I’ve seen on here for a while, worried about Thorney calling your bluff and refunding your warranty? Company house special dispensation for smaller companies is pretty standard practice. On Thorney's CH accounts you just need to take heed of two figures to get a gist of the company's financial health. Total debt and corporate tax tells you everything. Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity but cash is king. Thorney's have hardly any debt and pay a lot of tax at 19% which tells me they are in very rude health.
This thread will go down in history as one of the worst(if not THE worst) in Pistonheads' history.

He has / had plenty of corporate words ... but apparently very little empathy with the day to day needs of owners of older McLarens.
He questions the financial integrity of Thorney, then suggest that his financial concern is for the cost of his own warranty (with Thorney ?), ... and then backtracks even on this.
Could this have been the ghost of McLaren trying to discredit Thorney ?
Who is / was Tommy Terrible ?
In any event, a £4k chance on a Thorney warranty is in my book an affordable risk on a £60k McLaren.
The £18k loss on a 12C Graziano gearbox for a faulty bearing is just my example of the magnitude of loss that McLaren were prepared to inflict ... a problem ameliorated by Thorney.

Rambo Lambo/William Weaver. Just a guess but a new poster popping up and antagonises? Mmmm….
Talking of antagonising, the below screenshots are doing the rounds on a WhatsApp group.Being an R8 owner, you probably know Ricky Elder of REPerformance don’t you? Fine chap, great to do business with, highly respected and is making good headway with McLaren servicing and tuning. You may have seen his recent video about McLaren Engine Failures
Anyway, John in his infinite wisdom has decided to take a cheap swipe at Ricky with the below post on an FB group. This happened earlier today.
John just keeps on giving. When will he learn that social media just isn’t for him.
If I were Ricky, my response would have been “at least I can get parts John “
Steve Tilley’s comment is amusing and pretty much sums it up.

Bikes I’m less sure about.
I commute on a Panigalle.
I still find bike people generally more like the car people of yesteryear………..
A while back the belt went on my scooter on the A3.
The next bike that passed stopped and offered me a lift to wherever I was going.
It was out of his way. I told him not to worry, I’d get a cab.
He insisted.
On I got and off we went. He dropped me at my front door.
I agree. Less far down the slippy road but heading in the same direction when you have halo brands like HD ( are they really motorbikes - shudder) Ducati, KTM, BMW. And yes, even though I am currently bikeless, I still stop if I see a bike parked up in the middle of nowhere to make sure the rider doesnt need help. Even had some HA do the same for me.I commute on a Panigalle.

Must say thats a decent offer. But you are daft trying to argue your case on here. You can never win against posters who can and will post unreasonable and often nasty comments hidden by funny names. Often they are just willy waving at each other anyway. Best ignore the comments and say nothing.TommyTerrible said:

You will excuse me.
I saw a link to a video that said in its title 'New McLaren engine - £65k" that is wrong, they are £50k from any dealer.
I decided to post on OUR OWN Facebook page the correct cost because things like this, especially when posted by a tuner get the habit of becoming internet truth and as soon as you like you'll have the McLaren haters all chiming "£65k engine ha" when its not true.
I dont know Ricky personally but we have conversed and I deliberately didnt post on his thread, page or YT, indeed I didnt even know he followed our FB page, but clearly he does and good luck to him, I've no issue with that. However I disagree with the idea of having a video where its title is patently false, he and I clearly dont share the same view on that and again, no issues there either.
How on earth you can criticise me for correcting an falsehood on my own bloody page is beyond me.

Really? How very noble of you, policing the truth before all the “McLaren haters” start chiming in, coming from the chap who was threatening McLaren with a Jayemm collaboration - the biggest McLaren hater there is - the irony! Surely if that was your genuine intention, you could have sent Ricky a polite email, made a phone call or sent an FB message to correct what you believed to be an error. Instead, you attempted to call him out on your social media account, unknowing that he was a member. I saw a link to a video that said in its title 'New McLaren engine - £65k" that is wrong, they are £50k from any dealer.

Come on John, it is what it is. You don’t really think anyone is going to see it for anything other than what it is, do you? An attempt to embarrass and undermine the competition. Even one of your FB friends thought the same…
BTW, I don’t believe Ricky circulated the screenshots on the WhatsApp group (you’ve now edited that accusation out of your above comment). Unlike you and I, he is totally professional and has more sense than to post on social media stuff that could embarrass him.
