Hi All,

I am trying to hone in on a 675LT Spider.

Can anyone clarify what the most desirable colours are for that car?

I prefer black and dark grey but that black seems to be very rare.

Thanks

isn't this the only desirable colour choice that matters?

I'd ask the dealer(s) what they sell most of.

(FB usually = Facebook)

I might be wrong, but my feeling is that McLaren buyers, similar to Lamborghini buyers, as a generalization prefer bright colours such as shades of orange, yellow, green. Black and grey are probably towards the bottom of the list I would suspect, especially on LT models.

I must say orange, yellow, green, etc is not my thing at all.

Black, grey, etc much more my thing.

For those you out of warranty or that extended your warranties did you go with McLaren extended or a third party?

I have read that there is known suspension issue. Any other known problems with these cars to be concerned about?

Thanks

I went with a 2yr Mac warranty just recently, more because I have a good relationship with my dealer however Thorney off a good potential one.

Either go extended McLaren or Thorney, would'nt bother with any other 3rd party offerings.
Suspension issue is normally accumulators which Thorney are meant to be producing themselves at no doubt much lower prices than genuine.

Colour choice is personal, black or grey are great in my opinion, I have a black LT. Ignore what others say, it's your choice and there's no wrong choices for you.
AB have a lovley blue 650LT Spider just in, I know it well and it's lovely.

Looks a decent enough spec in the video/pics if you like white.
Been for sale a long time or possibly a few times over the last year.

Would definitely check for tell tale signs of heavy track use as the condition of LTs can vary dramatically in my experience.
They are either tatty driven within an inch of their life or cosseted and immaculate and that could be a £30k price differential IMHO.
Condition more important than owners and mileage

The suspension accumulators are known to need replacing although the 675 has had fewer issues than the 570s or for that matter the 600LT. Some 720’s have had electrical issues which was largely resolved by having a full software upgrade.

Remember regardless of all the Dewey eyed 675LT lovers it is a first generation car and does have some compromise issues which gen 2 cars do not.

Yes I must say it is concerning that it was on sale at 2 to 3 different dealers in the last 1.5 years or so. Your advice is spot on and is a concern.

It is a 1 owner car and Tom Hartley assures me it has not been tracked and is in mint condition. He also said the csr was on sale and return with the other dealer at a much higher price and he bought the car into his stock. I have never dealt with him so I don't know how honest and straight forward he is.

There was a recent long thread that was deleted very recently about that dealer that did not make for good reading....

If you want a 675LT spider, I would say that your first and maybe last port of call is Alastair Bols.

I bought my 675 spider from him and he was hands down the best dealer I have dealt with.

He sourced my very specific car, had the bits I wanted changed to my spec carried out and ensured the car was in mint condition when i collected; I doubt it was better presented when the previous owner bought it from new.

The fact he is in regular contact is also a nice touch.

Whilst technology has moved on, if you speak to those in the know such as any McLaren dealer principles & Alastair Bols, the 675 was peak McLaren.

Not only does it not seem to have any shortfalls, it is not aesthetically challenged as cars that followed such as 720, 765 or Senna.

Add in that prices shall only go one way, its a no brainer.

Reliability wise, with the exception of a failed actuator for the fuel flap, it has been ultra reliable; I will not be extending the warranty this year.

I use my 675 almost daily, but each journey is an event; just an all round wonderful car.

It was at GT Premier for a long time and was actually for sale for less than it is now (which I presume is when TH purchased the car in order to now sell for £15-20k more)

I saw it for sale when it was listed at £195k a few months ago

I am not sure why it had not sold while at GT Premier

I will ring GT Premier in the morning. This is worrying me but I don't know if they will remember the car or give me an honest response.

TH are pushing me for a holding deposit.

I just checked the description and it doesn't mention number of owners. I thought they said that to me on the phone, unless I am mistaken.

I bought my Pista off Tom and he was a stand up gent

I would just advise to do your own research beforehand as I wouldn’t go by what anyone else says tbh.

I got a good deal on my car as he didn’t know the full extent of the spec on the car I bought - I found him to be an honest guy to deal with

Best of luck!
