Thanks for the update again.

I wonder if the 540 at Polo is the Private one that has gone from AT?

Thanks for the update.

Interesting to see a Thorney car reduced, whichconsidering they come fully checked and ready for a year's worth of hassle free motoring, is a little unexpected.

Might be the bespoke white paintwork with decals?

IMO £88k for a 2016 540C is well over the odds, that budget will get you into almost half the 570Ss on the market. No lift mentioned, no interior carbon/extended paddles. That's before you get into the subjective issue of whether you want your supercar in refrigerator white, or the aftermarket add-ons.

The 540C makes sense if it gets you into a Sports Series for less, or it gets you a newer car for the same money than a 570. With New Forest offering an approved used white 570S for £85k, paying more for less doesn't stack up.

a 570 went through Manheim Leeds this morning, entered by Leeds Mclaren, didn't hit the reserve

Am I right that buyers don't get much chance to inspect the car at such an auction? I'd be thinking, a tiny bit of bubbling paint here, a hairline crack there, a drop of oil underneath and the car could easily cost another ten, twenty grand to get into a saleable condition, so buying a McLaren from auction like that would seem very risky.

it had full Mc history but there must be something up as why aren't Leeds retailing it? "Price range" cars are good sellers it seems, you could have a good look around it and make your own mind up.

Jeez that car has to be suspect.

l assume Mclaren proper will still cover the bodywork, everything else not. Why are they selling by auction really is a worry.

Low mileage 600LT on CC. Could be an accurate barometer of where the market is now

With dealers very keen to buy cars at the moment (esp 600LT), it will be interesting to see what it goes for and whether that is more than would be offered. I would expect a car like that to be bid at around 135K to the trade? 10K to prep / warranty it and then 20K margin?

ETA - I had assumed it was a Spider so my prices are ~15K over!

Agreed! Have you decided on whether you'll be moving on from your 540 this year and if so would you try CC?

With some nice coupes at below £140k even with main dealers, i reckon any indy dealer paying £135k, no matter how nice the colour is, will be taking a massive punt. I suspect a main dealer would have been offering £120-£125 tops.

My mistake, I saw it as a Spider. I agree with you given it is a Coupe.

A supercar finance guy on The Intercooler podcast was saying that they'd done more business in Q1 this year than Q1 2022, so generally demand looks to be fairly strong despite the higher interest rates. He also said that they're seeing new car production recover after the chip shortages, which means a bigger supply of used cars coming to market as trade-ins. Also talked about seasonal demand, i.e. open cars being particularly wanted currently.

I guess that matches what we've been seeing here, with a fairly steady stream of cars being sold, and prices fairly steady. It's an open question whether new sales of the Artura, MC20 and possibly 296GTB will push more Sports Series cars into the market and what that'll do to values; I wouldn't anticipate any big movements in either direction this year personally as I don't see any big changes in either supply or demand.

Being 3,500 miles & with the Senna seats and a good colour, I reckon if advertised by a dealer maybe £145-150k asking price.

Of course whatever it goes for on CC, need to add £7200 on top for the actual price.
