Tavarish P1 rebuild
Discussion
He's making a serious car. But two years is a long time.
I don't mind it taking time - I'm still interested. The problem for me is that he posts nothing on it for months and then releases a video that's an hour long. Which I simply can't be arsed to watch.
I'd prefer smaller updates of 20 mins or so on a more regular basis.
I still can't quite get my head around what he'll end up with. A modified P1 that will be very fast, but carries a flood title and isn't really a P1 because he's hooked the engine out along with the battery. It's basically a P1 tub with a Frankenstein of Mclaren and aftermarket parts.
That's cool, but it's not hypercar cool. IMO, he should have just rebuilt it standard.

What regular updates do you want when he's sitting waiting for parts? Waiting months for a custom wiring loom, waiting months for his custom bodywork to be sorted, and waiting months for custom turbos to be designed and built. People would just complain that he's making videos of nothing happening.

He bought the car in 2023, almost 3 years agoHe's done 1 video in the last year, 2 months ago.
Again, I get that things take time and he's doing a custom job. For me, it's not engaging though. I'll likely wait until (if) it's finished and watch the (too long) summary video.
I imagine the initial global hype and subsequent flurry of interest has more than paid for the car, so he has no need to keep updating it regularly anymore anyway, one last hurrah once its done and then just enjoy it, he seems to be backing off the whole You Tube life now, probably set for life.
I would think at some point soon Mat Armstrong will do the same. Best to make hay while the sun shines though as they soon become yesterdays news in this medium.

Interview posted in Sept-24 he said the P1 is running him $7k a month on a 2 year loan.I would think at some point soon Mat Armstrong will do the same. Best to make hay while the sun shines though as they soon become yesterdays news in this medium.
Same interview estimates his monthly outgoings at $80k a month.
He must be comfortable enough with the way he’s backed off the main channel and posting more on 2varish, but I doubt the set for life math applies.
Yes he owns the car collection outright, except the P1, but equally has $10k a month mortgage payments.

He's appealing to the US market, which consists of mouth breathers constitutionally unable to leave their cars alone. You should see the number of people on US McLaren forums whining that their cars don't work properly despite being "bone stock...apart from a tune/the turbo inlets/decat etc" They all know better than Woking (or Ricardo) and since they don't actually drive their cars, it's all about droning on about wheel horsepower and theoretical acceleration in a straight line to other very large people over awful coffee at a posing event that requires a journey of fewer than 5 miles from their house. Remember that Tavarish (who really needs to eat fewer pies himself) blew up his 675LT because apparently it needed more "powerrr" so he "threw a tune" on it and then promptly bent a rod while revving it to impress another yootoober with peculiar holes in his ears who's allowed a six-year-old to scribble all over him in magic marker. Accordingly he's going to ruin a possibly saveable P1 with a variety of ill-chosen "upgrades". Thankfully it was a) yellow and b) otherwise destined for garage-queenhood and careful polishing of the wheel wells before exhibition at the aforementioned cars and coffee, probably having been trailered there to keep it at 300 careful miles, so it's not really a great loss.
big talk from a goddamn muppet... would you like to buy some punctuation to go along with your bad teeth and garbage stable of cars?TrevorHill said:
Will he ever finish it, or does anyone know how things currently stand?
I think everyone has long since lost interest, especially with the cars Matt Armstrong is now repairing and the fact that Goonzquad are currently rebuilding a Senna.I think it is just another car to add to the list of cars that Tavarish has never finished. Considering he has not posted a video in three months you have got to wonder where the channel is headed.

I'll still watch when the video does appear.

I guess it could’ be wise to show a short update what’s holding him back. It’s now 5 month since last video. Anyway he's said that he'll have a massive update on the P1 in the next few weeks (running with everything working now the harness is done) as well as updates/completions on a number of his other projects. So it does sound like it's all been progressing well behind the scenes.

The guy is just getting a bit boring, i used to love watching his videos but he has to many projects going on at the moment and he will start one and not do a follow up for another year or 2.
Matt Armstrong has taken over him on youtube and its easy to see why, Matt releases content weekly and will stick to the same project.
