I mean cars are selling at close to or at those asking prices …whether this continues or is a bubble remains to be seen. The move up in Speciales , Scuds etc meant the 675 in particular had to go up given its rarity and sheer technical and performative superiority to those cars . A 675 coupe new with reasonable spec was lowish £300s while a Spider was mid £300s …these cars are finally just getting back to list and thats not accounting for 10 yrs of inflation ( which was quite severe after covid). They are an incredible package , huge performance, visceral and totally involving with a depth of engineering that will probably never be repeated at this price point.
The 675LT is now seen as an investment and is collectible, to be stored away in a dry climate controlled garage and used sparingly. Would be interesting to understand what makes the typical ‘new owner’ tick. Investor or enthusiast/user/driver? Will we hear from the new owners on the forums? Will the cars just disappear into the sunset and not be heard of again?
As a McLaren enthusiast, I’ve recently bought a 650S. Private sale, bought for asking price - no negotiation - no cocking about. I’ve not driven a 675LT, but if it is such a dialled up version of the 650S road car, I can’t imagine how exciting it must be to drive.
It’s 06:30 on a Sunday morning. Quick shower, then off for a blast on some country roads somewhere.

Is this a documented fact? While 675LTs values are strong, they don’t match special edition Ferraris or Porsches. Just look at e.g. a twitchy, peaky 458 Speciale. Kerniki said:

I doubt the 6000 or so coming over impacts on the tabloid described mass exodus of 150,000 millionaires leaving the UK last year

A rhetorical question. I doubt the 675 will ever match the special edition Ferraris, just because it s a Ferrari. Dragged up behind, so to speak. So, who is typically buying the 675LT s?

Remember there was not a lot of choice and potential buyers have not been able to obtain the spec they want. The recent price hike has meant some owners with collections (who to be honest were probably more Ferrari / Porsche fans) Are now selling as they have been waiting for this to happen. The real fans are now buying, as well specified cars are becoming available and they know they may never be available again. Take the delta red car DK sold. Its a one off. Quite a few of the cars that have come to market in the past few years have been low spec / high miles / dubious history cars and they have been priced accordingly. The 'good' cars are now hitting the market and the fans at last have something they can buy. A lot of the price jump is because the cars now coming to market are better specified.
As noted above they are still below list, and if you factor in inflation, some way left to go. They are following the general trend as Ferrari's are. That is cars like these will never be made again and exist in very low numbers. 1,000 cars between 8.3 billion people. And potential owners of these cars are realising if they want one they need to act now. This is across the board with anything rare that will never be made again. Then factor in the price of a new supercar and the depreciation and the 'older' car makes even better sense (especially with no ADAS / GPF etc)
So the new buyers are the fans who have been waiting for their ideal spec car to be available. And seizing the moment as it may be their only / last opportunity. Will they match Ferrari? Probably not, but there are enough people who actively don't get on with Ferrari's, Porsche's and Lamborghini's, to keep the 675LT / McLaren market going.

Acklam had that car advertised for sale for around 18mths @ £204k i think, and to the best of my knowledge removed it from the market about 12-14mths ago.Nice little spike in price going on just like the 600LTs about 2 years ago.
Fantastic cars no doubt whatsoever and loved the 4.5yrs of ownership, but i would never of purchased at current prices.
I used it in the pissin rain, sleet, snow and sunshine but at these prices it would be different experience.
