Great to read of your road trip smile I feel the same way about the attention thing, but imagine the effect in a viper green car frown

I could not part with my 12C when the 650S arrived, and now the o/h wants to go everywhere in the 12C because its so smooth and relaxed.

Interesting that your o/h can feel such a big difference between 12C & 650s, can you tell? I would really like another 12C. Even though I adore my 675LT the 12C is the best looking McLaren.

I like the 12C over the 650. I don't like the shape of the newer 720 at all.

The 12C is the P11 car McLaren thought was right for launch is 2011, (leaving IRIS aside). Comfort was one of the attributes of the "And" car to use their term. When the press (eg Sutcliffe at Autocar) (but excluding Chris Harris) back pedalled on their pre-launch 5 star comments, Woking set about compromising the recipe, making a more playful car. Up went the bhp and spring rates increased 15% among other things.

To answer the question, yes, there is a noticeable difference in compliance, its more that a 12C in rude health is amazing but the 650 is just superb. In my comparison, the 650 has P1's so not perfect apples with apples, but they are super comfortable as you know.

6 Year Ownership Review
Another year has passed with the 675LT bringing the total to 6 awesome years and 20,000 miles together. The car has just been serviced by the amazing Steve at 'V' Engineering who really knows his stuff.

It was the 10th service and the costs, with MOT, all parts and including VAT was £891.42. This is a bit more than last year as V have become inundated following the positive reviews from an enthusiastic McLaren owning Cotswold's farmer with a popular (and rather magnificent) YouTube channel. They worked on the car most of the day, I arrived at 9am and left at 3.30pm, taking full advantage of V engineering's new work space and coffee machine.

So how as this year?
Mileage was up this year on last at 4,100 miles as we sold our 718 Spyder after deciding we would make more use of the 675LT for European road trips. After a trip to Skye in the 718 Spyder my wife declared the 675LT comfier (with P1 buckets) than the 718 Spyder (with comfort seats). So I saw no point in persisting with the 718 Spyder and the 675LT was dispatched to Grindelwald swallowing 2 weeks worth of hiking gear no problem. The rear parcel shelf is a very useful storage space even with the club sport pro titanium harness bar taking up some space.

Long term MPG remains around 24mpg. The best this year on an 120km stretch of 110kph Swiss motorway was 43mpg!! A few times this year, in the UK at 60-75mph, I have seen over 40mpg. The engine must be bedding in very nicely. Shell V power seems to give 1-2 mpg more than ESSO supreme. Although I prefer ESSO as there is 0% ethanol and I get 6ppl discount.

The German Autobahn saw my fastest ever speed in the 675LT, around 160mph. It was a lot more raw and connected than my 12C was at that speed. We also did some great passes in the Alps, Susten, Furka & Grimsel. As well as the route des Cretes in the Alsace on the way back.

Nothing went wrong with the car this year. Ive now completed my third year without a warranty and therefore have a theoretical £15k in the slush fund. V could not see anything that needed attention, the accumulators still have good pressure and could well last another 2 years (they were replaced 4 years ago at 6 years old). I did treat it to a new set of MPS4S. They had lasted 5 years and had started to go 'off' with a bit more TC intervention.

This year I also organised another 600 mile tour around Wales. We had many different cars, 3 x 675LT, 296GTB, Huracan Perf, Clio V6, Elise S1, AM Vantage, GT4RS, SRS, 997 & Emira. among my friends is BTTC driver Dan Cammish, who came with us to Wales and had a go in the 675LT and adored it. Dan came 3rd in the BTTC this year. I recommend you all watch in 2026. The racing is close and exciting with lots of overtakes. And please support Dan. The most appreciated car on the trip was.......The Clio V6 (an amazing bit of kit must be said). A green Perf is always poplar with the kids and 'rev it' brigade.

We also enjoyed an amazing weekend celebrating 10 years of the McLaren LT brand. The morning started at Caffeine and Machine the hill for breakfast, then onto Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre for pics with the Lancaster Bomber before an evening meal at West Retford hotel with great 675LT stories from Jamie Corstorphine. All arranged by Alastair Bols and Julian who runs the 675LT owners group.

At one point of the day there were 50 of the 170 UK registered 675LT's, but the best part was meeting 675LT friends who have mostly known another for over 10 years. Many owners progressing from 12C / 650s to 675LT and even newer McLaren's and back again. 10 years of laughter, good times, driving, and friendship. That's what it's all about. The entire weekend was much like a family reunion.

50 cars, 600 miles each, 30,000 combined miles and no issues. V engineering were on hand to assist if anyone had an issue, but there were none, my screen wash did need emptying and I embarrassed myself with my MPG again!

Looking forward
My intention is still never to sell my car. Its one of only 6 Club Sport Pro's in the UK and I can't think of anything I would rather own to replace it with. There are only 75 coupes and 103 spiders in the UK so they are quite a rare sight now (except at 'V' engineering, where there are usually at least half a dozen being serviced)

We intend to use the 675LT as our 'touring' car now so quite happy to take it abroad again. It was very much appreciated on the continent where it instigated many chats, all positive. Unfortunately this is now very different to the UK. I have stopped taking the 675LT to many places, including Goodwood FoS, Revival & Breakfast Club as many friends cars (all variety's) have been abused / sat on etc. There are many places I now don't want to take the car and leave it, in stark contrast to Europe. I don't want to get into geopolitical politics & attitudes but owning a 'nice' car in the UK is now more of a worry than a pleasure. Even a trip on the M-way is no joy as every BYD owner (BYD seem to have surpassed Audi as the t***t's car of choice) seems to want to cut you up at high speed just to let you know their leased EV is just as fast (according to them - as they overtook you). I now have an NA 6.2L C63AMG estate as my daily. It flies under the radar, 99.9% of people don't know what it is and the remaining 0.1% do and appreciate it.

The 'money' shot on the Furka Pass. Hard to believe but behind me the car park was rammed with 100's of cars and people.

Great read as always, those euro passes really are so cool to experience, regardless of the car you’re in. That pic of the car at the parking stop on the bend of the Furka brings back great memories of a trip we did earlier in the year.

As a new owner of these very special cars, thanks again for your kindness in allowing me to pick your brain on all things 675 prior to pulling the trigger. Still in love every time I open the garage and roll on the better weather cloud9

Meanwhile Porsche are trying to charge £3000 for an eight year service of a GT3 type car ... but their extended warranty is cheap !!

In Porsche's defence its probably a 2 years service cycle? One of the reasons I sold my 718 Spyder was the absolutely DIRE service I got from Porsche. I won't mention which OPC. At least there are lots of Porsche specialists that you can go to out of warranty. The whole Porsche Situation (warranty & servicing) has really annoyed me. As bad as Ferrari, if you don't keep it up its unsellable. etc. Luckily, with McLaren, a 'V' engineering stamp now carries more kudos with potential buyers than an 'official' McLaren stamp. If I was buying a new Porsche to keep 'forever' It would be out of the OPC network on its first service. I only wish I had done the same with my 675LT as soon as it was out of the warranty period. Would have saved me £10k in extended warranty's. (£9,950 I think I paid for 2 years around 5 years ago)

I do love the 675LT. My personal favourite of all the macs ( F1 excluded) . I've currently got a 12C and have been soooooo. tempted to upgrade to a 675, but it's a big jump in cost and will it be worth it??

Beautiful car OP, colour is perfect as well.

I went 12C to 675LT and was 100% worth it for me. Its like a completely different car. Only looks similar on the interior. Otherwise the driving experience is very different. Like comparing a C2S to a GT3RS (but comfortable!) You need to try one and make your own mind up.

Strangely I noticed the car below this morning whilst looking around. For me the 675LT is the best McLaren - including the F1 (blasphemy!!).

you'd probably be looking at £100k+ uplift i guess?
675 are fantastic of course, but its a big cost jump from an already excellent Mclaren.

I don't get why some people always think this uplift is an issue with a McLaren LT but think it's fine if applied to a C2 / GT2RS or 458 / 458 speciale where the uplift is currently £250k. And there were 1,300 x 458 speciale coupes compared to 500 x 675LT coupes. Its a mystery to me.....

I'd agree with you that the uplift from a 458 to a speciale isn't fine, it's way ott in many ways but the market is probably more proven for them than McLaren that's all.
It's nothing against the 675LT, it's a very special car. I couldn't afford a 458 speciale anyway, so it's a moot point. I could if I wanted stretch to a 675LT, and would love to do so, I just personally don't think I'd see the benefit myself over something "normal" like a 12c/570 or even a 600 LT. it wasn't a dig at 675Lt in any way, just my (and probably others) observation that's all.
I think your probably in the best future proof McLaren other than a Senna anyway!
