Have been considering an Artura and running it mostly as an EV in place of our city EV runabout. But I worry about the condition and expense of the petrol lump if it is rarely used. So, still waiting for a more EV-biased option - even perhaps a sacrilegious restomod. I have several other petrol cars for more engaging driving.
Its fine for pootling about town and quite nippy up to 30mph. Forget anything after that though as it will be like driving a Dacia 1.2! I wouldn't say its mad suitable as an EV only - and I'm an EVangelist with a Taycan. Huge fan! Or just do you - I'm sure you will get 15 mile range with air con on as long as you don't go much above 40mph. It will do 80 on the motor but obvs chews the battery quickly. The Active Cruise on the battery is great and takes a lot of stress out of crawling in town too.

A question for the Artura owners on here. Have the corrosion and paint bubbling issues which seem to have plagued all previous McLaren models been solved with the Artura or is it still too early to tell?
They definitely had corrosion issues on the engine cover and some of the rear heat protectors on the bumper by the exhaust tips - warranty should cover. You'd hope to god they have sorted the paint corrosion issues by now - this is quite mix of different panel materials too - front wings seem plastic.

"Smart Cruise Control (SCC) system
The active cruise control feature on the McLaren Artura is known as the Smart Cruise Control (SCC) system. This advanced technology utilizes superior sensor technology and artificial intelligence to maintain a fixed pace on the road, actively adjusting to surrounding traffic conditions for smoother navigation through congestion. The SCC system enhances both convenience and safety, allowing drivers to relax while maintaining optimal control during their journey.

Thanks for posting the EVO link, a good read

Artura is clearly a superb product, and a credit to the McLaren brand.

The Merc reminds me of something that might wear SCANIA on the grille.
The Maser is only tolerated because its from Italy.
The Aston is showing promise, looks good too, but not for me.

Saw an orange Artura heading south on the M5 (J9-11 - anyone here?) and it looked absolutely stunning on the road.

Apologies if covered before, but how does it fare on all the assistance stuff that is now mandated? Annoying noises should I creep over the speed limit/grab the wheel from my hands should I drift over the white line...easy to turn them all off?

It has none mate - mines 2024. You can press the 'chicken button' that makes a squawk when you cross a white line, but it defaults to off.

I don't know if it has EBA to slam the anchors on like my Taycan does when you are trying to nip across oncoming traffic and thus cause an issue where there was none... Chris knows :-) Her reads things I cant find ;-)

I’m interested in one but seemingly hardly any are selling, and the prices aren’t reducing. Seems like a market stalemate. Not a statement, more of a question…

....a good question

my view..... supply and demand have become balanced, quality restored, due to Michael Leiters influence.

May not be selling fast, but their reputation is recovered and they are not building stock to park in fields

Interest rates going the right way, 2025 sales year opportunity cooling off, people on the fence ......

Sub 140k Arturas could evaporate, but I'd be confident they wont as the new regime will succumb to destroy Herr Leiters work by pushing product out the door

Update on Artura love ... after 2500 miles of UK country roads over this summer, I love it. Without question the best GT car and country road sports car that I have ever owned, ignoring the extra fun of the pug-in hybrid functionality ....

It is a car that I found I needed to learn ... little things like not being surprised when leaving a junction quickly with the car in Comfort mode (running on electric) that it takes time for the engine to re-start and contribute to the take-off, giving the car time to start it's systems first thing almost like making a couple of pre-flight checks, when the radio stops changing to a different stronger frequency and then changing back, setting the battery to charging when in Comfort mode so that I have enough charge for the duration of the next village or town, I wonder if this could be called character ?

As for the basics, I don't need to add to what everybody has said about the quality of the steering and the handling, the car really does feel so nimble and responsive, a tactile delight with seemingly unlimited power and excellent braking stability without brake dust !! The only thing that has caught me slightly in big compressions at seed is that in comfort mode the rear suspension allows the car to bottom-out slightly ... though I can't see any evidence of this when I look under the car ??

This is worth a watch ....

P.S. I forgot to mention that the solution to the time it takes for the engine to re-start at a junction is, when there is just one car in front, toggle the power setting up to Sport. Job done and try not the run-over the car in front smile

Why on earth would you use an Artura as a city runabout? It makes no sense when you’ve got the option of having multiple cars for the various uses?

It won’t be as convenient, will be harder to get in/ out of and park in narrow city spaces, have less luggage capacity, and as you say, potentially suffer mechanically.

The best city runabout is…a city runabout, eg a Renault 5 EV, KIA EV3, used BMW i3 (my pick) etc.

The only reason I can think of is where you can only run one car, but that’s not your situation?

Fair comment ... as a city runabout with other cars in the mix I would choose the new Renault 5 ... the 4 is also a similar option, but because we often do longer journeys to and from family we chose the Kia EV3 which has a practical range without charging of 300 miles. As an early adopter of the i3 we found the rear door arrangement a real nuisance in car parks and discounted a replacement for that reason ... otherwise we would have gone for one of the last of the range-extender cars ... instead went for a Kia eNiro now replaced at 6 years old and with my Son. We checked the battery prior to sale to him and the dealer diagnostics suggested that it still had 100% capacity !!

Because our EV runabout, like those you've mentioned, is boring.

This is a super achievement for Artura. It is best at everything!

If my 650 ever moves on, the question of its replacement would have to be a McLaren Coupe.
The obvious options (ignoring £) would be:

720 or 750 - PROS: Power, very easy access doors, PCC. CONS: Very difficult aesthetics for my eye

GT or GTS: - PROS: Power, Practicality, easier access, aesthetics, CONS: No PCC

Artura: PROS: Power, easier access, Stunning aesthetics from all angles, compact practicality, single wiper, perfect firing order V6 soundtrack, light weight, hybrid benefits - tq fill, discrete pull away, reverse gear ingenuity appeal

CONS: No PCC? but maybe they have 90% of the ride benefit by other means?
: Hybrid reliability at 5 years? Maybe no issue?
: Independents don't service them yet? do they?
: Fire risk - parked next to house? Maybe this is history?
: Tyre hassle? Indie's will find a way to enable Michelins

Don't know ........ but it would be dangerous for me to drive an Artura

Worth a watch and talk of a new Mclaren Hybrid at the end ...

Is the daily Supercar a new motoring category ??

Is the new UK Hybrid tax, where tax is charged on a mileage basis, going to be applicable to Artura?
