No Artura love?!

I think taxing hybrids per mile is terrible thinking and awful messaging. LITERALLY it doesn't pollute in town - so why the f would you want to tax that as a negative when the VED is £630 pa already and most of its miles anyway will be done using hyper taxed fuel? Mine charges overnight using 100% renewable surplus energy via a £12 Tapo plug on a schedule... Why would you actively penalise and discourage more complex costlier to buy hybrids? Its absurd.

Our Z4M pays about £750/year in VED before it has spun a wheel, plus about 3.5p/mile in fuel taxes at 25 mpg, so it probably makes it about right for most EVs. Hybrids are going to pay about half that? The Z4m weight about 1500kg, so a lot less than most(!) BEVs and hybrids.Pollution has nothing whatsoever to do with it, neither has wear and tear on the roads, it is about filling an emerging hole in the total Tax Take caused by reduced Fuel Duties when people are finally forced out of ICEs.

I don't mind paying it for the EV to be fair but I resent it on the hybrid. I just don't see the logic. The hybrid has 6% of my EV range but is taxed at 50% of it. Act now, think later policies as ever.
That’s the key point for hybrids. If you actually go anywhere then it’s on heavily taxed fuel. See,s bonkers.
I’d actually be for pay per mile, and ditch VED and fuel duty and charge everyone the same per mile.
So, I have finally taken the plunge and taken delivery of an Artura Spider in the wonderful MSO Amethyst Black.
My last twenty odd cars have been all Porsches, with the most recent being GT and RS models. I started to feel Porsche has lost its way. I always wanted a McLaren, but reliability and build quality were sticking points for me.
When the Artura came out, the build quality took a real step up. The "improvements" or bug fixes to the Spider and the 2025 Coupe sealed the deal for me. On the test drive I knew within five minutes that this was the car. The steering was the standout and a real showstopper.
It is currently being PPF’d, so I cannot get miles on it for a week or so. I am very much looking forward to driving it and posting my views.

I will be very interested to see how you get on
I have a very similar (25 year) history and currently have a Touring/Boxster in the garage - thought being to swap both into a Artura Spider. Have been on extended test drive and as you say loved the steering as well as the ride
If you bought new I'd be interested in what sort of deal you achieved

I have a 750S and the build quality has definitely improved. I've had 5 Macs now and it could be pretty hit and miss in the past.
My first 720 - a coupe - was bloody awful, although I did get one of the first. A follow up 720 convertible was a lot better but still had issues, this current 750 is streets ahead, seems like they really have made progress.
Congrats on the new car, enjoy.

Glad to see the Artura finding buyers almost two yrs since I started the thread the car impressed me alot at the time and I m sure they ve ironed out the bugs and tweaked the package properly since then. Congrats and health to drive to the new owners…the only real disappointment is that there doesn’t seem to be a LT version forthcoming.

How do you get away with such low VED Chris - did you tell them it cost under £40k !!!???
1. I am the second owner of the car so have done nothing 2. When I taxed the car at purchase that's what the VED cost me
3. When I put in my reg. and V5 reference number into the DVLA system this is what it said the car would cost to tax ...
