Also had to chuckle that one of the photos they chose to include was of the sat nav screen. When was the last time a 650 owner used the built-in IRIS sat nav instead of Waze or Google Maps on their phone?

It's an Aurora Blue spider, with most of the carbon options on the outside and inside, lift, upgraded audio, stealth pack, McLaren logo on the sills. Bought it at 24000 miles 2 years ago, it just ticked over 32000; it gets used every chance I get.
Much like my house any profit is entirely theoretical unless I sell it and don't buy something else which has also gone up in value. But all the same it's nice to know I could cash out and walk away much better off than if I had done what most of my colleagues have done and leased a brand new Tesla or BMW.

Mine has just rolled over 20k, although exterior carbon is only mirrors and side vents. It does sound like it's probably a ~£100k car these days though which is nice. It will do about 2-3k miles next month though which should knock a few £k off the value!

Turns out insuring a McL in Germany is rather difficult - some insurers did not like that my car is parked in a garage with multiple parking spaces (apartment building), others flat out refuse to insure a McL as the repair costs are so high. So third-party only it will be, would have liked theft insured, but that’s life I guess.

It is indeed - I’ll get it insured third party for now and then look for something palatable over winter. I have never had the “repair costs too high/we no longer insure the brand” feedback - that was a new one and to judge that quite a few people must have crashed their McL How can that be a 40k more car than the one I looked at 2 months back yes mileage is 10k less but I just dont get these prices that are bring put out there.Like the grey spider that's been for sale for a long long time one min its 94k not selling then up for 124k.I know dealers etc are entitled to put cars up for whatever they like though.

That is punchy but the market is a little skewed at the moment. Would certainly be one of the priciest coupes to be sold in recent times, considering a top notch spider with carbon went for £110k at Thorney recently. Has internal and external carbon and extended alcantara but standard exhaust. Seems punchy for a coupe.

Due to the relatively low volume/scarcity, I think the 650S coupe (good reputation) will track closely in value with the earlier 720S coupe (poor reputation). The 650S spider will settle and track approximately £25K behind the 720S Spider.
Having had two 720S coupe (2017 & 2019) and now a 650S Spider, I can honestly say that the 650S Spider is a better ownership experience than the 720S Coupe. There’s only so much performance one can use on public roads - even the 650S performance is ridiculous.
If the 650S Coupe is as well built and sorted as the 650S spider, I’m not surprised that values are appreciating. I’d quite happily have a 650S coupe over an early 720S coupe.
