I think the market is moving to where it should be for McLaren 650 Super Series. They ve been under valued for quite some time.
Due to the relatively low volume/scarcity, I think the 650S coupe (good reputation) will track closely in value with the earlier 720S coupe (poor reputation). The 650S spider will settle and track approximately £25K behind the 720S Spider.
Having had two 720S coupe (2017 & 2019) and now a 650S Spider, I can honestly say that the 650S Spider is a better ownership experience than the 720S Coupe. There s only so much performance one can use on public roads - even the 650S performance is ridiculous.
If the 650S Coupe is as well built and sorted as the 650S spider, I m not surprised that values are appreciating. I d quite happily have a 650S coupe over an early 720S coupe.
I'm coming at it from the opposite side, being long time 12C / 650 owner into my first 720, and I feel like 720 is a big jump above the 650 in every meaningful wayDue to the relatively low volume/scarcity, I think the 650S coupe (good reputation) will track closely in value with the earlier 720S coupe (poor reputation). I looked at a 720 before I purchased the 650 Spider and actually preferred the 650. Both are wonderful but the performance gains felt negligible and I liked the P1 looks and the more analogue interior. It might have been my imagination but the 650 seemed better built with higher grade materials. No wrong choice here really though.

Pretty much mirrors my own views, for sure they are wonderful drivers cars, starting with the first P11 off the line, right thru to Artura.interstellar said:

Makes no sense let's be honest just chancers so car didn't sell at 89k so let's put it up at 124k 6 months later where the heck is the logic in that .Ridiculous when a spider sold at thorney recently at think 110k and id say that is you end price too
Quality high spec cars are being sold and bought privately through social media groups for values above those advertised by traders. Within past few days I ve received an offer in excess of £120K. I m in two minds what to do - I don t need the money but it s difficult to say no to a decent return (brain versus heart). I didn t buy the car with the intention of flipping it on so soon after buying it. I truly am aghast at the sharp rise in values. I m not complaining tho.

I d take it whilst we are still in the summer peak
It’s a decent speculative offer, that’s for sure, considering I haven’t even put it up for sale. I don’t think the rise in prices is attributable to a summer peak. I think sportscar and supercar enthusiasts are waking up to the tremendous value of ‘used’ McLaren car ownership, certainly due to the very positive reviews they now get and that there are decent independent specialists covering the north and south. I wouldn’t have bought the 650S if it wasn’t for Jack Webb Motorsport being within one hour of where I live.Having had both 650 and 12c in the past, I recently took the view that the 12c is the one to have so bought another back. I remember when the Spider came out there were various updates over the coupe.
This time around it took a while to find one as there don't seem to be many good Spiders around (bit like 650 Spiders). It's so much better than the Ferrari of the time, utterly ludicrous that the 458 is so much more money. Hard to go wrong with a well looked after 650 or (later) 12c in my view.

You probably wouldn t go 570 Spider, or the GT after a 650, so then you re looking at 12c Spiders, which have only moved upwards very slightly recently, or going back to 720 or even a 750 if funds allow.
It s almost a case of, if you decide to sell, you move on from the brand.
