Makes no sense let's be honest just chancers so car didn't sell at 89k so let's put it up at 124k 6 months later where the heck is the logic in that .Ridiculous when a spider sold at thorney recently at think 110k and id say that is you end price too
Quality high spec cars are being sold and bought privately through social media groups for values above those advertised by traders. Within past few days I ve received an offer in excess of £120K. I m in two minds what to do - I don t need the money but it s difficult to say no to a decent return (brain versus heart). I didn t buy the car with the intention of flipping it on so soon after buying it. I truly am aghast at the sharp rise in values. I m not complaining tho.

You probably wouldn t go 570 Spider, or the GT after a 650, so then you re looking at 12c Spiders, which have only moved upwards very slightly recently, or going back to 720 or even a 750 if funds allow.
It s almost a case of, if you decide to sell, you move on from the brand.

More than likely won t replace it if I sell it. When I bought it earlier this year, it was simply a spontaneous unplanned purchase. I ve known the car since 2019 and have admired it, a lot! The condition and spec is great. When it came up for sale near me in NE Lincolnshire, I jumped on it. It s been with Jack Webb since May having some remedial work and areas dealt with that were a little tired (it s 12 years old). They ve been pretty much tasked with bringing it up to A1+ condition. Not because of any plans to sell it, just because I m an enthusiast and the car deserves it. You should have seen the 2008 MK3 Tuscan I sold last year. Arguably the best in the country. That s the level I d like to get to with the 650S.
Yes, I have seen your posts. £120k is a good offer if you re not bothered about replacing it. That s the top end I d say at the moment but who knows where they may go to. The only one higher I can think of was the MSO that was listed a few months back at £136k ish.Edited by Zorbathegreek on Friday 14th August 21:56
Tuscans are expected to increase also but I m yet to see any meaningful jump. I have a mk1 Tuscan still, that I ve had for 17 years. It has gone up in that time but nothing ground breaking.

If 675's are up at 300, then the 120 offer for this green 650s with all the maintenance and cosmetics done to OE standards as we are seeing....is not a particularly strong or generous offer when condition and long term values are taken into account - imo.
Personally, I think we need to see Autumn and Winters flush of cars come through the market to strength test the apparent lift in the Market (across the board and not limited to McLaren values). If the market remains strong and values for this era of cars (2014 - 2017 ish) hold through to spring, we may have more confidence that the sustained upward trajectory on new cars, lack of appetite for ADAS, emissions control, noise limits, extra 'unusable in the real world' performance and this era being viewed as 'Peak Storts / Supercar' is also playing a firm hand in what we've seen so far this year. Adding the 'tax free' asset loophole that cars retain at present we could well see values steadily creeping upwards hereonin...In relative terms for the 650S though - the what you replace one with at a comparable price point remains relevant and the delta in budget required for comparable cars from other manufacturers still shows the 650S as a relative bargain.Edited by BSM1984 on Sunday 16th August 09:17

does winter nowadays really lead to a drop in prices for these types of cars? My brother wanted to buy a 360 Spider and has decided to wait for winter and then make a low ball offer on a suitable car - I wish him good luck, but I am not sure that will fly / lead to a better outcome as a strategy [even ignoring the fact that he does not have a car for this summer, which for me would have been a key consideration].
Admittedly it has been a few years, but from around 2015 to 2020 I wrote a script that scraped the autotrader website on a regular basis and stored the data for every McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin on sale. That let me track prices and follow where the market was going, although I couldn't see actual sold prices, only assume them based off cars going off market. What I found at the time was that prices (at least asking prices) didn't take much of a dip in winter. The market cooled down, fewer cars came on the market, fewer left the market, and cars spent longer on sale, but there was no significant dip in prices. This stands to reason, as you'd need to be pretty desperate for the funds to sell a Ferrari for £130k in Dec if you knew you could sell the same car for £150k in April. That's not to say there won't be deals to be had, if a trader is keen for some cashflow he might be willing to accept a lower offer just before Christmas than he would when he's busy, but I saw no evidence of a market-wide trend each winter.
I don't claim to be a market expert, and am only giving my impression based on the data I saw, so I could be totally wrong.
Certainly one dealer seems to think they're going up.
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202510086...
The price track tool shows it initially reduced over winter before they decided the market was changing.
08/10/25 £99,999.00
21/10/25 £98,999.00
17/12/25 £94,999.00
03/02/26 £89,999.00
28/03/26 £104,999.00
04/06/26 £109,999.00
03/08/26 £124,999.00
Although being a dealer they probably need to actually sell it at some point.

I hope I will finally be able to pick up the 675 this week .... now insured third-party only, but whatever - just don't crash it, would suck for the car given it has been crashed twice already .... :-)

Ironically, a few weeks back, one of his social posts was about how bad a 650s was as an investment car, which he got some stick for,
The point I think is pertinent when considering whether there is any fluctuations in prices during the cooler months is we generally see more cars available on the market, coupled with less 'seasonal' buyers. This doesn't necessarily mean a drop in asking prices. Any buyer putting an ounce of thought in to their negotiating strategy can use this to their advantage. An increase of available 'stock' may also curb or even reduce the recent uptick we've seen.Dealers that still have cars on the books or SOR always have the option to trim their margins to freshen up the forecourt/showroom by trimming asking prices to move vehicles on or to get a sale over the line when there's an increase in the number of vehicles available.

I don’t think the historical analysis of data taken from traditional online sales websites (Autotrader and Pistonheads etc.) is no longer relevant or reliable. Vehicles are now being sold privately through social media groups and online auctions, neither off which are easily analysed. I’ve recently sold a TVR and 720S over winter period through FB Groups without any trader involvement or traditional online advertising. I’ve not experienced a winter versus summer price differential. This doesn't necessarily mean a drop in asking prices. Any buyer putting an ounce of thought in to their negotiating strategy can use this to their advantage. An increase of available 'stock' may also curb or even reduce the recent uptick we've seen.

Then there’s the investigation by the FCA into the SoR market with potential regulations coming down the line (not before time). I think this will significantly trim-down SoR traders to those with deep pockets and with the ability to comply with the regulations.

t Sherlock! It’s sad that this thread has so much traffic now. The McLaren range was always driven by fans not Porsche type value chat. Anyway it’s peak of summer theres always less for sale now so prices do go up. However it’s just smaller supply, come Nov they’ll be plenty of supply and lower prices

Chris Harris did mention in his pod that Autofolio had used some of his footage for his social media pages, without credit, and that he asked for it to be removed, alledgedly.
he had a 599 that sold on collecting cars, then tried passing it straight off as a private sale with another £30k on the price. that was flagged also, think he tried to claim it wasn't the same car. however the fact it was wearing the same reg and chassis number make it a sticky point
