Market is currently very small. Only 7 650s on At and only 4 spiders.

Looking forward to January and hopefully a bit more choice in the depths of winter.

I'm guessing that's a typo - unless budget creep means you're looking at 750s instead of 650s now wink

Hi Guys - Relatively new to looking at McLaren's. Sold my Lotus Exige 420 earlier this year and have been looking across 718 Spyder's, 992 GTS's, 991.2 GT3 and 650s. When a 650s is considerably less than a 992 GTS it becomes quite compelling for a much more special car.

Saw a white 2015 650s coupe at Thorney is up for sale. 29k miles and £89k. Seems to have history with them from 2019.

However, per AT price tracker was first listed on 03/12/2024 so....given it's for sale by Thorney (where mechanics shouldn't be an issue), can only assume price is holding it back from selling?

Any guidance on what you would expect/want to pay for this?

Thank You!

Thorney are charging £5k to the sor owner, plus he's had to pay for any work needed to get it to standard, so the price is likely higher than anywhere else on the net including OE dealers at times. Whether there is any wiggle room or negotiation with the owner after a long time for sale us interesting, you'd imagine they might bite if so.

Having looked at both, I went with Alistair Bols.

I think it’s a tough buy at that price as it’s not an easy sell. I’d get a spider.

One of the least popular colours for a Mclaren is a factor.

650 is wonderful wonderful thing. I drove so much and kept coming back. Only car I liked more was the 675LT but just a bit too expensive at the time.

It's been 89k for a few months.

I gather Thorney watch these forums and if the owner doesn't then they might be pointing them towards it.

Thorney ones average over £90k, compared to seventies for the others ignoring the rather optimistic one in Huddersfield. It shows people are prepared to pay more for peace of mind, but the other white one with what looks like one missing service is £15k cheaper, and a spider. And it is in Thatcham, not far from V for a PPI.

Having looked on V-Engineering website, this spider is for sale (2014, 16k miles) - Also white but with a rather nice livery and what would be important to me (front lift etc). May tire of the wrap but can be removed. I personally do like white so not put off by that - good to know it's not as desirable, however.

I would question if the wrap would hide if there was any corrosion (with the best will/honesty in the world from any seller) - but a spider with half the miles from a very well-respected specialist feels like it could be a winner.

With winter approaching i'm in no crazy rush, but it does seem probably worth a trip down south to see!

I remember the owner posting that he was having those graphics applied - it wasn't that long ago (maybe a year).
Assuming it's the same car, it seemed like it was purely for aesthetics rather than to hide anything

Yes - Just to clarify I wasn't insinuating that, more questioning if it would be harder to spot if there was an issue underneath

Is nice to see a reminder of the olden days with Marlboro from F1, very iconic cool

Having owned an Exige 350 & 430CUP, a 981 & 718 spyder and a 12C & 675LT seems like we have similar tastes. The 981 & 718 both had foibles I couldn't live with. I ended up with the spyders after trying so many iterations of 911, GTS, T, GT3, manuals, PDK. I could not find a Porsche that I was 100% happy with, there is always something not quite right. The Spyders were better than the 911's but after 10k+ miles in both they didn't add up for me. The 430CUP was a unique experience but has a very specific use case. The McLarens are on another level. As an Exige owner I don't think you will get on with a Porsche, I may be wrong, but they are just a bit 'Audi'. The McLaren drives and goes like a grown up Lotus. A 650s is what you would imagine a new Esprit would be like, with cherries on top. A Lotus perfected and honed. Which isn't surprising as so many of their designers and engineers swap camps regularly.

According to the V Management website, which is their sales side, this 650s has now sold. I noticed that it sold a few weeks ago. The grey 650s has also sold.

Hi, does anyone have any knowledge of the 650S spider being sold by Hamptons at £77,995?
Grey wrap over blue. 20,000 miles

I enquired about that.

I did not like the missing trim on the rear and the issues with the screens (look at the photos - the left screen has problems).

Low mileage is a good thing and the original colour is good too.

I am not sure how solid the dealer would be if there were problems in the first 6 months.

If you buy a car, make sure to finance some of it on a HP or credit sale basis so you have the backup of getting the finance company to resolve defects.

Thank you for your post.
I agree the original colour is good and the mileage is good.
I also see what you mean on the photos re dash left screen and the missing trim.
Noted re the finance.
Did they say if it was on SOR?
