Keep it outside, problem solved.Edited by sjc on Sunday 23 March 11:10
Picked mine up a few days ago and keeping it outside on the drive with a trickle charger. Did consider a cover but having read views on here it seems a risk to the paint so I won’t be bothering.
Dave - to be honest if I had bought private I think I would have limited myself to low £80’s to factor in then purchasing a good warranty and expecting a few bits to sort. I went considerably over my initial budget because AB has one in a great spec and I put a premium on his reputation which is fully deserved having now dealt with him.

I’ve probably never been closer to getting one, especially with XP1 now close to where I live, and there’s one for sale particularly which works for me. The issue now is I’m doubting whether I can get out of it in my garage… I’ve got more calculations written down than NASA!
Get a Spider, then you can just put the top down and climb out that way!sjc said:
There’s 5 on Autotrader alone, none private, various specs and 2 have extended Mac warranty.
I only mentioned 720S values in relation to where 650s values might plateau.
I didnt say there wasn't any, but none you would want.I only mentioned 720S values in relation to where 650s values might plateau.
But your right it does represent the bottom of the market with regards to prices and the nearest 650s, personally I can't see them going up any more unless everything shifts up.
There is still the fact that those 720s are coupes though, and many of the 650s nearing that price are spiders. It was a significant point when I was buying again - tempting though the 720s were, I didn't want to lose the convertible aspect and 720 spiders are still a big chunk more.

Comedy moment on one of the FB groups where somebody has posted saying that if anybody wants to sell their McLaren (not model specific) they have....... £50k cash as a private buyer. And no - it does not appear to be April Fools.
What's more amusing is the odd reply saying that owners have an inflated view of their cars worth in a weakening market so it's probably not a bad offer. Maybe the £80k offer for mine wasn't so bad!
Regarding mine - I've decided it's definitely not for sale. It's still at V, and we chatted about driving down to the coast for the day at the weekend.
While I'd usually be all for that - nice drive down and back - my reaction this weekend was : Why would I want to spend 2 hours each way driving down there?
I guess the appeal of driving an old TT isn't quite the same as my 650. It made me realise I am not ready to sell it though.

I'll bet it is April Fool - the £50k doesn't exist.ex-devonpaul said:

If you do change your mind on selling, shoot me a PM! I’m in the process of listing my 570 for sale as I’m keen to move into a spyder and the 650 makes the most sense. Sadly, it is still at V. It's minor stuff, but hasn't got to the top of the queue yet - they're busy enough these days that maybe they need an automated answerphone : Your car is currently in a queue - it is number 17 in the queue
Still - it is giving me time to see how I feel without it while we have decent sunny weather and hence how I'd feel if I sold it. Plus, when I get it back it will be long enough that it will feel like a new car again!

Why the trickle charger?
Battery will easily last 3 weeks plus on the drive, an hour's drive will brim it again.
I've owned McLarens for 8 years, never trickle charged, never had a flat battery.
I don't think people actually use "trickle chargers" any more - they've been "Battery Conditioners" for the last 20-odd years, but the name has stuck.Battery will easily last 3 weeks plus on the drive, an hour's drive will brim it again.

Why? - a mixture of habit, simplicity, and familiarity. The cars have a connector built in (or you can easily add one) and plugging it in takes a moment and is a lot cheaper than fogetting, getting sidetracked, then realising you've left it longer than intended and are looking at a large bill.
I use one for the bikes and laid up car, just need to set it for the correct battery type but tend to put it on for a few days each month.
