It is pricey compared to some 17 plate cars but it's a rare colour, spider, very high spec carbon packs/extras and you'll get the mclaren warranty to cover your first year and any issues without quibble. I bought a 570S Spider a few years ago for circa. £25k below list. Great spec with carbon int/ext and 1 owner. From a small family run, independent dealer. Paid cash, used the balance of McL warranty to put a couple of minor things right ~ dropping pass. window and rubbing to rear of seat. Yes, McL authorised a new seat! Ran for a couple of years, never had an issue with it whatsoever. Sold to a local guy who still has it and says it's been a joy. You can just get lucky with cars, irrelevant of the dealer. Certainly improves the ownership experience. Great aftersales is what you really want.

I certainly saw it that way when I viewed it.I’m guessing that Mc Hatfield paid very low £80’s for it.
What would a well spec’d low owner 570’s with 18k miles, Mc warranty and full main dealer history be worth as a private sale?

I paid 94k for mine with lower spec but 18 plate in Feb, Hatfield have a similar car up for 98k right now.

If I were buying I'd be hoping to get something like that for £80k max cash really. Assuming decent lengths warranty remaining etc. I m guessing that Mc Hatfield paid very low £80 s for it.

Thorney have a blue 2019 GT for sale, slightly more mileage at 28,000 and £94,000. So £6,500 more and the benefit of an extra 12,000 miles on the clock. Mmmmm.......I thought owners set the price though, as it's SOR.

No idea just got an email about it.I did consider a car at Thorney before I bought mine.
He told me he strictly wouldn't negotiate which I took to mean on an SOR car he wouldn't communicate any offers to the owner. Found a better, lower mileage car much cheaper a few weeks later.

Yea it's not exactly an encouraging process if that's the case! Owner may be sat for a long time. I did consider a car at Thorney before I bought mine.

Depends on the car and instructions he has to sell it. I did have a small amount of negotiation room on my Thorney purchase but if the owner says no then not much Thorney can do.I did consider a car at Thorney before I bought mine.

I bumped into the chap who runs Thorney Motorsport - not in person I mean watching a few of his videos - and he seems to give me the impression - apart from the fact that he has a tonne of relevant experience with this brand..... that the only safe way to buy any kind of McLaren - is by buying through him.
How accurate is that?
He sounds so confident......
The cheapest 570GT he has is £88K - which is a little more than I'd like to spend - but how much of a risk is it buying from somebody else?
He tells stories of people bringing him cars they've just bought - that turn out to need a LOT of work to get them up to scratch. I'd very (very) much like to avoid that experience.
Anybody have any thoughts?

I don't see a thorney car having any value over another. His warranty has no wording as its all at 'their discretionBut. You know.... there's always that thought. For another £30K I could probably get myself into a McLaren. Looking at them all I'm thinking a 570GT. For the fact that I'll use it as a daily (so I don't need the hard core suspension etc) - love the fact that it has a sunroof (I miss that on my Emira) - and the interior (if you get it in that ivory/grey...). There's plenty in the club and around thats not. All I'm saying is that the warranty isn't watertight, there's plenty of other warranties that are more inclusive for less money elsewhere, along with lots of other places to service the cars. Lots of options in todays market, all with pro's and cons.Frankychops said:
