This was in my garage, so probably a bit more of a contrast than normal; but perfectly fine in usual use.
We used it to drive to the B road stag Kent DU meet on Saturday, and it was fine to view for the 200 mile round trip.
I'm out again with DU on Sunday, car won't be in daylight before then, if my memory works ok I can take some more daylight type pictures and post if you'd like.
Yes please 😀We used it to drive to the B road stag Kent DU meet on Saturday, and it was fine to view for the 200 mile round trip.

It's the one issue with IRIS is that you can't see a thing when the sun shines on the screen, even worse when you have sunglasses on

Has anyone actually had the official kit fitted yet? Interested to know if there's any actual real world difference, I doubt it but you never know!
The screen won't be any more visible as it's unchanged. I agree with the roof down and sunglasses on it's useless, sometimes with light mode and tilting my head just right I can see it but I usually have to shield it with one hand and kind of remember where I'm pressing.

Ahh, if this is a spider conversation, I'm not likely to be providing photos of relevance, coming as I do from a coupe...The screen won't be any more visible as it's unchanged. Does anybody make a ‘visor’ or similar for 650s screens? It seems even a 2” visor would make seeing the screen in the sunshine possible (talking about Spider)
May have to fashion something if not, but hope with the abundance of suitably skilled people with 3D printers, even a niche item like this might exist?

Would it work? The screen tilts slightly upwards, so even with a "visor" at the top, I think you'd still get full reflection with the roof down.May have to fashion something if not, but hope with the abundance of suitably skilled people with 3D printers, even a niche item like this might exist?
Right.
Is there an official Android upgrade yet?
I only use android but I've bought a 180 quid iPhone and a 12 quid a month 3 sim and slid it into the netting between the seats, works perfect.
I got my guys at work to turn everything off so it doesn't send any info and delete virtually everything except waze, YouTube music and audible and it works like a charm. Lasts about 4 days before running out of battery and even if it does it only takes 10 minutes driving to turn it back on.
I'm traveling Europe right now wearing sunglasses in a spider and don't have any issues seeing the screen. Obviously it's a bit dimmer but not enough to be a problem.
Before this I was using a Chinese box that gave me android auto on the iris but after recent updates it stopped working, waze wouldn't load and other things kept glitching.
This cheapo iPhone and sim has been brilliant, hasn't missed a beat. Starts up instantly as well.

It could only help. Clearly the longer the visor the better but you’re right, the angle of the screen makes it much worse. I notice newer McLaren’s have a much more upright screen, probably a lot better as a result.
I will try some anti glare film from Amazon for iPads etc, but I don’t think reflections are the issue… will report back
