Google is normally pretty good for opening times but no joy, maybe call and ask.

hehe

Been quite a few posting he wasnt quite as good as people are making out..

I found him ‘ok’ but certainly no better than any other SOR dealer, i wouldn't call him a car dealer unless he buys cars though, more a handler..

I wouldn't say "quite a few", more the occasional posting.

The overwhelming sentiments of comments I've read, have been hugely positive, from sellers and buyers.

If he wasn't any good, he wouldn't have been in business for so long so clearly he was providing a valuable service people appreciated and used.

Quite a few ? I saw two posts on the FB page both from people who’d tried to contact him a month or so before closure, one of them came across as a bit of a weapon.
Never heard one negative thing about him in all the years before that. He was brilliant and patient with me in three visits, and still the same when I rang him to say I’d gone a different route, praising the joys of a car I eventually bought.

The SOR market is under scrutiny by the FCA. They wrote to SOR vehicle traders in April.
It’s an unregulated market which is open to abuse or mismanagement (GVE, Targa Florio etc…). Some unscrupulous traders have been using it like a Ponzi Scheme. A few weeks ago a large motorhome trader went pop still holding SOR vehicles and buyer cash.

Hopefully it will become regulated, just like banks and other financial services institutions. If it does become regulated, we’ll probably see a few of the SOR only traders withdraw from the market. They just won’t have the infrastructure to comply with the regulations and nor will they have the money available to buy-in their own stock.

Excellent chap with an eye for detail and huge marque knowledge. He developed the 675LT market and made sure they were valued correctly for such an epic machine. I bought and sold through him in 2025 and was thrilled with the service.

There is nothing wrong with Alastairs health. He has decided to take some time out, good luck to him. I was at V Engineering yesterday, Paul said Alastair had been there this week.

Good to hear. Unfortunately he will be very much missed in the McLaren world.
