Quick update….

Having owned multiple Aston’s one of the positives is people genuinely seem to like and respect the brand, so generally you aren’t judged to be a "flash git" which can sometimes be attributed to owners of brightly coloured supercars! This helps getting out of junctions, when parked etc.

So I was a bit concerned that an orange Mclaren may get negative reactions, but I have been genuinely gobsmacked by the attention this car gets and most seems very positive, with people chatting to you and taking snaps at petrol stations. Maybe it’s because it’s another British brand, or people aren’t sure what it is, but I hope it stays positive …fingers crossed.

So far so good, but in addition to a rattle I do have a quirky passenger mirror that won’t auto-dip and the 360 degree camera is temperamental, but the handling, performance and involvement is still fabulous!

I concur. Just over a month owning a napier green Mac, and all the public interactions have been hugely positive.

Also, it's not been the complete attention seeker I was possibly expecting, considering the colour, which is also very welcome.

In case you don't know, you have to put the car into reverse, adjust the mirrors to where you want them to auto dip, and then obviously back into drive or neutral, next time you hit reverse it should dip to that set position ......... that's on a 720 anyway, took me a while to work out.

Assuming it is enabled in the menus, on most modern cars you also usually need to have the "mirror adjustment" button switched to the passenger side. So if someone adjusts the driver mirror and doesn’t move it back the switch back to the passenger side position, auto dip turns off.

Regarding public attention/perception, I agree the "Britishness" makes a massive difference. The profile from winning in F1 means more people are aware of what it is. Maybe the fact they all look the same helps in this matter

You can dip both mirrors - as already mentioned, position them both while in reverse.

I have the sports exhaust on mine but still not great sound. Actually sounds better sitting in the cabin than outside (and it seems to me to better in real life rather than on video on phone)

For other McLarens using the Menu stalk select Settings -> Vehicle -> Reverse Mirror Dip



It is possible it is set to off if you can't get it to remember what you adjust it to when in reverse.

Thanks guys for the mirror dip tip, I had it set to on but being a man didn t read the manual to see you need to position it yourself to set the position!

Could have done with it last week .just had an aggressive bus driver cause me to catch the rear alloy on the kerb to avoid him taking the side of the car off, boy was he incredibly close, had to swivel in the mirrors while reversing and had I not moved in so far it would have been an ex-Mclaren

Beast - my Artura sounds great with the sports exhaust. It s not as good as a GT3 or Lambo/R8 V10 but it s still up there
