I'm sure a few people will already be subscribed to this channel, but it a pretty interesting series from Robert Llewellyn (of Red Dwarf / Scrapheap challenge fame) on EV's, fuel efficiency and future energy etc.

In the first episode for 2014, he drives the ground breaking VW XL1 hybrid

Thanks, that was very interesting! I've seen some videos of his where he has been overtly evangelical about green transportation, which annoyed me, but that was much better.

Just needs to work out how to focus a camera hehe

Am I right in saying that this has a similar power train layout to the Chevy Volt I drive in America? Though obviously diesel engined!

Agreed^^^

To be fair, he does fudge his figures a bit, saying things like "i've driven 8000miles in my leaf without burning anything" which ignores the fact that his solar array and wind turbine had to be manufactured, transported, and installed etc.

Yip, the XL1 is an ace bit of kit (good vid).

Robert Llewellyn is such a likeable bloke that he does get away with quite a lot. I've watched some of his talks and his enthusiasm carries him a long way. One of my favourite blog articles by him last year was when he admitted that he was out of his depth, it's an amusing read
