Been looking at these for a while now, what are peoples views on buying a second hand one around the 06/07 plate. Are the batteries still efficient when the car has done 80/90k miles? I drive a Lexus is220d at the moment and would like something a bit smoother and also automatic. I realise the GS will do less MPG but most of my driving is town work and I dont do a massive mileage a year.

There have been a few threads on these - the general feedback seems to be that they are pretty bulletproof. You might have more luck in general gassing since it isn't an EV and doesn't use alternative fuel.

I quite fancied one but the boot is really pretty small and you can't fold the seats to gain more load space, which ruled it out for me.

I have had a RX400h for nearly 5 years and it drives just the way it did on day one, after 50,000 miles.

It has had two front dampers on one side in all that time (under warranty) and a replacement headlamp (due to misting, again under warranty). OK, you are looking at a GS - but I would not have any concerns over the car losing its "hybridness".

The motors/battery require no servicing, and if anything else, a hybrid car with a particular mileage (say 50,000 on the odo), may only have done less real miles on the petrol engine and is probably under less strain when setting off from a standing start. Like the other posted said though, the batteries do eat some boot space on that model.
