It's so hot my extension lead is overheating trying to charge the car! Bloody weather frown.

Hot, I went from lock to lock in my van whilst doing a three point turn and left 2 big holes in the tarmac. Oops

A run to Manchester airport for a trip to Ireland saw me try Auto eDrive out for the first time.

Started the morning with 14 miles range on the batteries and ended with 10 miles left.

43 miles at an average of 52.3 mpg, pretty good methinks....

Once it's charged it stops feeding power (well not entirely but you're talking very very minimal amounts). This is unless you go for your IP66 Outdoor standard plug, which will continue to feed power.
The wall boxes for charging lock the cables in and will cease to feed power once charged.

Still you cannot control the charging times from the app sadly. Consider this with the fact you will need to pay again for your box (you could in theory get the wall box now then take it with you and refit it at the new house).
I don't get what you said above. The standard charger that comes with the car cannot "continue to feed power". What are you talking about? When the battery is charged, it shuts off (apart from the health LED's on the box).

And yes you can delay the start time within the app, definitely. Mine is a UK car using the blue Android app version 2.1.1.2037

Sure I read somewhere on this thread that you could maximise long distance economy by running on "Save Battery" mode by starting out with a full battery, with the idea being the car doesn't need to charge the battery so it's runs purely on petrol.

Anyone know if there is there any truth to that? I need to drive from Scotland to Cornwall and back so interested in the most efficient method.

I did that with a few tanks of fuel when I knew I would be distance driving and not charging. 40-42mpg average.

edit: Perhaps not pure petrol only, fine to see the % dropping when you use a burst of flat out combined power then the auto topping up of the few % again lol.

I do this all the time. Car is more efficient and a nicer drive. I don't like driving with the battery flat.

I can get mid 40's out and early 50's on way back on a 260 mile round trip. Use eco pro on motorway it makes a difference.

I'm after a weatherproof IP rated box to house the mains charger and potentially a 2 gang extension socket. Any chance someone could give me the measurements LxWxD of the charging unit please?

Thanks in advance smile

...Oh and roughly 3 weeks until the car arrives. I'll know more accurately on Monday whether or not it's on the long boat from Germany smile

I have to fold mine down to get the golf clubs in!
Hi
Currently trying to make up my mind between the 330e and an outlander PHEV as my next company car.

Problem is I cannot get a demo in the next 6 weeks of a 330e and no garages near me have one to look at.

My main concern is my golf clubs.

I mainly just stick a carry bag in the boot, but often my son will play and then its two carry bags and possibly a powercaddy trolly.

Can you advise if I can get a single bag in without folding the seats. And then would two carry bgs and a trolley fit with the seats down.

Really want to go for the BMW but this would be a deal breaker. Cannot believe I cannot get to see one in the flesh.

Thanks

I only use a carry bag and it is no problem at all diagonally in the boot with the driver in the bag, covers on etc. For 2 bags and a powercaddy I think the height clearance with the parcel shelf may be a problem. With the back seats down, iirc it is only 330mm from the boot floor to the shelf but I can measure it later if no one else comes back with the info. I assume the rear door opening is fairly standard though for trying the caddy in that way....

Hard to believe there is not a car you can see to try. Where are you located?

I am surprised at the other reply to this as I cannot get my carry bag ( Titliest ) in the boot without removing the driver first. Even then it has to go diagonally. There would be no chance of 2 sets, I have tried, this would require the seats down in the back.

Great car, rubbish boot but I do alot of driving, I've covered 10,000 since delivery in March so that ruled out the Outlander for me. Too high, too slow and too thirsty.

Thanks both for your replies. This really could be a deal breaker.

Based just outside Middlesbrough.

One BMW dealer I spoke to said it was 1" shallower than the standard 3 series boot

Comfy thumbup Taylormade driver, thick head cover, wilson bag + cover attached also. Head in the back right, base snug in beside the charge cable with a bit to spare biggrin

2 sets would need a seat folded down though, no question.

Might also be worth looking at the 225xe, bigger boot opening that the 330e, and a better drive than the Outlander.

Nice bag smile

Bit of a shame the driver has to get out of the car before you can put your golf bag in...whose driving the car then, KITT? tongue out

I'll have a similar issue I guess....if I can get my backside out there and play....been a while lol

I'd ask for pics of the charging timer as I do not think that is on the 330e.
I know the 530e' can have a wireless charger so maybe they have other options in the app.

Max was talking about fitting a standard wall socket not charge box.

The pic I posted of the timers page in the App was for the 330e. Is that what you were referring to?
That post is on the previous page.
