BMW 330e ordered...
Discussion
On a normal ICE when I start them up I usually leave it for a minute or so before setting off and only ever give it the full beans when the oil temp is at the correct operating level. Normally 9 miles.... in the summer winter is more.
So given the 330e and other PHEVs can start and go off electric when the petrol burst into life the car will be moving and underload off the bat. Does that increase wear? It's like turning the key and instantly pulling away.
Also given in stop start traffic the oil temp of he ICS will drop so you might think engine has been running so can give it the beans as and when- but in reality it could be way below operating temp and the full power requested will accelerate the engine wear.
What's people's view on this or is it a case of these are co cars/ lease cars and it will never really be a first owner problem

My car came back from warranty work without the handbook. There's no other explanation for why it's now missing. It's too long ago now to make it worthwhile going back the garage but could someone tell me what the oil specification is as an internet search brings a variety of different results. I plan to do interim oil changes.
Thanks in advance!
From the Driver's Guide (download/open with the last 7 characters of your VIN), the oil specs are ACEA A3/B4. See Guide for grades. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, it was sort of the grades that I was interested in?
Did you download the Drivers Guide? Guide says BMW Longlife-01, -01 FE, -04,-12FE -14FE+ are suitable. Where not available, upto 1 litre of the following can be used for topping up: "viscosity classes SAE 0W-40, 0W-30, 5W-40, 5W-30, 0W-20 OR 5W-20. Viscosity classes SAE 0W-20 or SAE 5W-20 are only suitable for certain engines."Mav281 said:
Got my 330e M Sport Shadow edition on order in Alpine White with the Carbon Aluminium and Pearl Chrome Finisher. This is the new trim that comes as standard with the Shadow sport edition cars. No split folding rear seats, but we do get the new trim at least - not that I'm bitter about that or anything..... My first BMW, so didn't know about the seats. My old mans 13 plate 320ED Sport has them, so I assumed that they would be standard on mine - whoops!
Ha ha yeah I’ve ordered pretty much the same spec but I did go for the split seats. I do like the blue finisher inside though.... decisions decisions lol. What delivery date have you got?Somebody said:

I've delayed my order until 1st March 2018, as the contract on my current company car doesn't finish until 16th March 2018. Cars due in to the dealer in early Feb as things stand, but they are going to hold it and register it as an 18 plate for me to collect first thing on the 1st March. Was being told early-mid December before I made that request, which would have been nice, but not prepared to pay for two cars for 3-4 months!
Is extending your current contract an option at all? Just wondering since you're waiting till March for the new one, whether it wouldn't be worthwhile waiting for the G20.Welshbeef said:

I've pulled the trigger today on an M Sport Shadow Edition.
I got a demonstrator for last the weekend, was impressed, a far better driving experience than I expected, the 350e from Mercedes is just not comparable and certainly didn't feel as sharp or poised.
I went for the Tanzanite Blue, black dakota with blue stitch plus the aluminium hex with blue trim. As the standard spec is so good, I just added the heated front seats, that's it, although I'll be investing in a roof box for when we go away as a family.
Early next year being loosely quoted, I won't hold my breath and as long as its before March I'm happy.
Cheers

Can anyone advise please if there is a 12v socket provided in the front arm rest? I was tempted to include the advanced Bluetooth option just for the wireless charging facility for the MSport Shadow Edition that I've ordered, but can't really justify the near on £400 extra! If there is a socket in the arm rest I can at least plug my mobile into that for charging..

No socket in the front arm rest, but there's one under the sliding lid of the cup holders in front of the gear stick and a hidden one in the front passenger foot well.Gassing Station | EV and Alternative Fuels | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
