Boot looks a bit tight especially when you consider its split between front and back. Overall the same size as the leaf.

Plus less than 100 permutations..

5 colours x 4 interiors x 3 wheels x upgraded hifi or not = 120

3 colours x 2 batteries x 3 interiors x AutoPilot or not x hifi or not = 72

All conjecture until final specifications are released, but by all means go buy a Leaf if it floats your boat.

Just under half the storage capacity of the Model S is quite surprising. Doesn't look that much smaller to me!

Looks like a quite aggressive bid to sell model S's to me.

Certainly this, plus managing expectations of M3 reservation holders.

The 3 isn't going to be a slightly smaller S. It's a different concept.

Musk also made a bit of a mistake building so many features into the first generation X. That might have led to some believing that the 3 would have all premium stuff built in from day one.

Tesla have updated the comparison chart: https://www.tesla.com/compare

Apart from faster acceleration, there's not much more I'd want if this is going to be the final spec of the first gen 3. Bring it on.

Exactly, I don't want to be bombarded with emails but I would imagine even something through the post with a picture of Elon giving a thumbs up... At the moment it feels like a pyramid scheme to be honest. All this talk about the Model S makes me think they've gone "Oh $hit, we've got a lot more reservations than we thought" and since the Model S funds it all they desperately need to sell some!

If I lived/worked in a major city, like London, or one of the American giants like New York, San Francisco then there's no question I'd have one. I think Tesla is the first company to make a genuinely cool EV, and if the Model 3 is priced the same as a Leaf then you'd have to be insane to buy a Leaf.

It won't be. It'll be almost double I reckon.

Makes me think sod it I might as well get a 2nd hand model S now. You can get them for mid £40ks now and if they have free supercharging and they're only going to be a few thousand less than a 3, then I think why wait.

I was thinking the same. I can't imagine many model 3's being less than high 30's after options.

I placed an order for the Model 3 on the day the order books opened and duly paid the £1000 deposit. I have heard several people who do have Teslas Model S complaining about the lack of aftercare and customer service once you have the car.

I have now decided after looking at it and others it's not for me just yet and have contacted Tesla on three occasions to get my deposit back.

Nothing....no reply, no response to my emails.

Any one here managed to get a refund?

I haven't. But apparently there's a link when you log into 'my tesla' account.

Even so, it'll see be fantastic value, compared to a 330e. It will be interesting to read what it's like to drive.

Will it though? The interior certainly won't be if it's like a Model S. the 330e is a lovely bit of kit IMO.

I think once they (and all real world reviews etc) are out, I'll consider it amongst whatever else is about but I'm quite happy my deposit didn't even up working for whatever reason. I'll leave it until after a test drive to see if I want to order one.

Am I missing something here. The 330e is a PHEV? I.e. It has an engine. The range on battery's is about 20 miles?

How on earth is that comparable to a M3? Even if they're the same price, it's apples and pairs?

I was only talking about the quality in regards to the 330e. I assume Aaron was too in regards to 'value'

Are we talking about the 330e plug in hybrid? The one that needs petrol and electricty? So not one but two forms of fuel? As well as looking like every other 3 series.

The Model 3 will probably be priced the same, probably be specced the same, probably have similar performance, so really the 330e is the best car to compare it to. Even though the 330e isn't a full EV. I imagine BMW will bring a full EV 3 Series, but for the moment the 330e is the closest thing.

Spec - possibly, performance - well know the base model 3 is 0.5 seconds quicker to 60 but that's before any battery or performance upgrades may be added. But all that is insignificant due to the 330e being a hybrid, and a rather mild one at that. I'd say the e-golf is more similar, at least it's a proper EV.
