Definitely the D5, I discussed that with them. They have just got the car in, it's not registered yet.

I have got a C350e for 48 hours in July and thinking about the BMW's . The 225xe is really cheap on our scheme, I can spec one with every extra within my allowance, but not sure.

Or the 330e, but if I went saloon route still tempted by the Burmester stereo in the Merc.

Then we have the temptation of all the other PHEV, s that are due later this year.
Seems like the same as me.... My thoughts

225xe. not a very resolved package, looks like something that should be at the lawn bowls club, harsh electric to engine transition.

330e. Nice drive, just not very practical and a bit too common. 36mpg motorway.

c350e. Magic carpet ride on the motorway, nice inside, drove well, felt more 'solid' than either bmw, 35mpg motorway.

It'll be nice to see what you think, I know they've refined the system loads since the d6 version
Quick update.

Dealer brought the car over to my house this morning. It was registered yesterday and had done 90 miles by the time he got to me. He had averaged 46mpg from memory without using any battery (saving that for me to try).

I drove it for about 50 miles on mixed roads, maybe 50% motorway, not pushing hard but easily keeping up with the quickest of traffic. Tried out the acceleration a couple of times using diesel and electric, fairly quick.

On way back (with 9 miles electric left) I ran it purely on Diesel down some A roads to see what that was like, perfectly acceptable perfomance for me. Average total (didn't reset so includes the original miles to my house) was 50mpg, quite impressed with that, given it was mostly Diesel.

My thoughts, definitely in contention, so much so tempted to cancel test drives I have booked for the 330e and C350e. Only thing stopping me is the base car (including metallic) is pretty much at my allowance. Adding Harmon Kardon, tinted windows, active dash, leccy seats means me contributing. The BMW is cheaper but the Merc more expensive.

I do like the ability to engage 4wd (provided there is some electric power available) just in case and I like the
practicality of the estate, even if it is quite small.

As for the car, handled better than I expected, I couldn't feel the extra weight. Went fairly well, especially so using power mode or whatever it is called. I struggled to get completely comfortable, but suspect that is a setting issue that could be resolved given some experimenting. The standard stereo was very good so debating whether the upgrade is worth it.

I would probably run it in diesel most of the time using electric as a performance enhancer when required, think it would be very useable day to day.

I'm pretty sure they've got an active dash as standard, it shows as an optoin but is standard on the PHEV's.

Good to hear it looks good on fuel, 50+mpg without charging on a brandnew engine.

Where have you looked to lease? I'm getting mine though neva consultants.

v60 d5 twin
metallic paint
family pack
harmon+kardon
20k a year, fully maintained. £450 a month.

Which dealer did you get the demo from?

We use Arval, car came from a dealer in Kent I think, not sure which one as the leasing company arranged it.

Yes economy was impressive. Will have to check on the dash.

Excellent, that saves some money. Kind of makes sense with the display showing charge status etc

In the blurb it reads like the standard fit stereo is good, I only went for the harmon+kardon to help hit my limit, I didn't want 18 or 19 inch wheels as I felt they'd ruin the ride quality.

I will double check, but the spec sheet they left with me shows the active dash as an option

its fitted to all of them though as it changes with the modes etc.... Wasn't an option on my spec sheet, supplying dealer confirmed and its not an option on the build configurator.

There seems to be a bit of confusion around the active dash, couldn't get a definitive answer from anybody. Dealer didn't know for sure, but said their demo has it but not specced, so hopefully.

I have placed an order for one anyway, with a note about the dash.

Should be with me mid September.

Awesome, what deal did you get in the end? What colour combo?

The dealers do seem a bit rubbish to be honest.

How much did you manage to get that for(you don't have to answer!).

I've a strange company policy where its got to be 20k per year, fully maintained.

I'm contributing about £30pm, but that then reduces the tax liability. So I don't get to see the lease cost, just the additional cost.

Our cars are also on 20k pa fully maintained and managed.

Does anyone know how functional the AWD set up is on these, i had a brief test drive today and the salesman gave me the impression that the rear axle may not automatically help out if the front is struggling for grip. Otherwise not a bad drive, the diesel is a bit gruff but then I Am used to a smooth flat 6 petrol engine

Playing with the various options when I had my test drive, it appears you can 'lock' it into 4wd, but I guess you would need some electric power available.
I don't believe it works as a normal part time 4wd system works, it is more aligned to the selection between diesel and electric. So power setting will run both diesel and electric, other options will switch between front and rear wheel drive.

I decided that being able to lock in to 4wd would help if I really need it, remains to be seen how resolved the power delivery is.

from what I have since read, I think you are right, I had hoped it might be a more active system, but I think they reserve that for the XC90. Overall I was fairly impressed by the v60, although I am wondering if I would miss the smooth thrust of the subaru - you can definitely tell theres a turbo diesel at work - the electric doesnt smooth it all out

if it senses slip and there's battery power it engages the rear wheels, as above, you can select awd, it'll run the engine to put enough charge in the battery.

I had a drive of the d6 version yesterday, which is basically the same but with a higher tune. It was the best PHEV i've driven, the 5 cylinder diesel engine sounds nice, really smooth on and off transition, as smooth as the merc which I thought was better than the BMW.

Build quality was lovely also, really lovely.

After 3 years of v60 ownership I am 85% happy. Car is very comfy for long slogs and good on mpg plus performance is awesome.
Handles OK but not as good as previous a4, interior is not as fancy as audi or merc but it does the job.if I had another one I would upgrade to the Harmon kardon as I went for the middle of the road system and its not a patch on the dynaaudio I had in my vw.
There's a few niggles like front and rear parking sensors are like £700 extra, winter pack is a must in my opinion but extra. No spare wheel at all which has caught me out.
If the phev is on my list I will certainly look at another one due to the cost of ownership
