Random question and can’t find the answer in the manual... Can you change the dash to have a numbers reading odometer? Perhaps replacing the temperature reading?
Yes, button on the end of the LH stalk. It's cycle through a number of displays.

Westy - is it me or is the display only visible if leaning forward over the steering wheel!?

It's only you......

I do have the steering wheel set quite low (and I'm 6ft 2)

Same for me, I'm 6ft 6. No idea what the mileage is, I best check!

Can you also take the NAV directions of right side dash display and only have on the mid screen?

Had my first issue with mine over the weekend (after 16K miles), Nav/Media unit stopped working. Screen would go dead and not turn on, then after being off for while it would restart. Also made a smell like it was overheating.

Garage had it for 4 days (picked up Sat and returned yesterday) and replaced the nav/media unit.

Service from the BMW assist line was great and the dealer (BMW Bath) was pretty good as well. Hopefully it was just a duff unit and not a common fault.

To what pressure (in psi if possible please!) should I be inflating my tyres with the following conditions:

Tyres are run-flat 275/35 20" (as on the M Sport Plus pack) and on a daily basis it's just one or two passengers and no luggage.

The pressures sticker in the front door frame isn't very clear.

I'm thinking fronts = 36psi and rears = 42psi, but I've no idea really.

All help welcomed!

Quick question re the 530e. My friend had one as a loaner while his 5 was in for a recall and he lives in a flat so he couldn’t charge the 5, I took it for a spin and it was a lot quicker than I expected considering the battery was empty, it was really torquey and responsive, does that make it a lot quicker when the battery is fully charged?

I'd say not that much quicker really. There is some additional boost from the batteries when they are charged but I wouldn't say it's significant.

The batteries do help to get the car off the line as their power is instantaneous whereas the ICE needs a bit of time. The 2 litre engine could really do with a bit more power and I'm surprised BMW don't offer a higher powered engine (for a higher price!) as I'm sure there'd be takers.

My mistake the tyres are 275/30 profile - doubt that it makes any difference.

Delving into the iDrive shows recommended tyre pressures when you select your tyre size and summer/winter tyres.

The recommended pressures for mine are 48psi at the rear and 42psi for the fronts.

That's a bit higher than I expected, but I'll go with it for now.

Had mine a month and I have done 1500 miles from new. Started off at 90mpg but now dropped to 46 mpg.

Long motorway runs seem to kill the mpg. I tend to drive it until the batteries are flat then run on petrol and recharge over the next 40 miles and then repeat.

It’s growing on me and I really quite like it.

Didn’t want white but at this price I couldn’t turn it down.

Do you have a wallpod charger? Charging using the ICE is not good for economy. Plug it in to charge where you can.

I charge up over night, so have a range of about 18 - 20 miles in the morning.
I also charge up when at my offices.

A lot my runs will be 60 mile +

Although I do have a habit of putting it in sports mode and giving it a squirt.

I do find with mine there is a big difference in economy between travelling at 70 and 85ish, mpg drop from mid 40's to mid 30's.

Stick to charging at both ends. Just leave it in auto e-Drive mode. Don't charge from the ICE.

Now that the new 3 series is out will there be a new 5 Series soon?

Thinking of getting one of these on contract hire to replace my 2 year old 520d M sport but dont want to have an older car after 6 months or so...

Also, have there been any updates internal or external since March 2017? I currently have white so will go for Carbon Black this time to get a bit of a change but wondered if there were any other changes made to the one I have?

You should be OK PrancingHorses.

The G30 5 series has only been out for 2 years and I'd expect a 'facelift' in about another year or two but no significant changes for 3/4 years yet.
