Tesla and Uber Unlikely to Survive...

What site was this? By the way the Kona Electric has a 150Kw motor and it only managed 0-60 in 7.5 secs so nippy / adequate. 125Kw might be a bit on the slow side.
Autocar. VW claims 0-62 below 8 seconds which is fine. They say the motor is 125kw/168 bhp. Ahh that’s the confusion. Not the battery but still a solid 300 mile range. Burwood said:

I would be very dubious about anything VAG is promising on range till these cars actually get delivered, the coming (but still not available) eTron Quattro was also suppose to be a 300 miles range car, but EPA rating looks like its only just going to creep over 200 miles, and thats on a 95kWh battery......A solid 300 mile range EV in any weather/speed would be fab, but NO EV on sale today or announced can actually do that with a decent buffer. I suspect a S/X running 2170 cells will get there, but your looking at 120-130kWh+, which isnt going to be cheap. https://www.theverge.com/2017/4/18/15339776/audi-e...
From that Autocar article
If this thing is actually any good it may well be trouble for Tesla's aspirations in Europe.

With an electric motor providing the car with 168bhp, the ID is claimed to boast a range of 249-373 miles, easily eclipsing the 186-mile range of the facelifted version of the e-Golf.
I'm assuming the range of ranges is due to their goal of having different battery sizes depending on how much you're willing to pay.If this thing is actually any good it may well be trouble for Tesla's aspirations in Europe.
On paper it looks good. It really won't bother me what the range is. As long as it can hoover up 200 miles. I don't do long commutes anymore. 3 times a year I might drive up to 400 in a day and I have other cars to use. Typical for me is no more than 20 miles a day during the week. It will be loaded with tech and Id put a lot of value on a pre heater/cooler. Bloody cold here this time of year. Summers getting silly hot too.

It will certainly provide competition if they can bring it off. The egolf is well put together just has a small battery and built on an ICE platform. I expect the ID to compete with the 3/kona etc quite well once its in production but thats still a couple of years away.Journo's have been driving development cars in SAfrica recently, fully charged should have an episode coming soon.
Interesting split between what looks like is going on with tesla deliveries and the short narrative
Personally I think whats happened is Tesla made a promise a few months ago about 2018 deliveries it knew it could keep with production levels at the time (~4k pw) and now they have scaled up to 6k+ they have more cars than expected. A few hundred cars hanging round as inventory isnt unexpected when you are making 6-7k a week, there will always be rejected cars, or people changing plans etc. Tesla are also offering some mismatched specs (i.e. bigger wheels) at discount etc to fill orders it cant meet with production before end of 18.
I think Q4 will be up on sales ( 93-95k vehicles) and a touch more profitable overall as many of those 3's will be lemur.
- tslaq @teslacharts saying there is 30,000 missing sales of model 3's and each dealer has in excess of 50 car inventory and there are hundreds of cars parked up waiting. Apparently its all a big con. They've (tesla) shifted from ordering by xx date for tax credit to order when you want for immediate delivery - supposedly demand has collapsed.

A 2011 Leaf can pre heat/cool via your phone. What would be impressive is a car that can match the Kona/Niro for efficency. Which neither the current eGolf or the and coming eTron Quattro is any where near.

leafs cant here because there not officially supported :/What would be impressive is a car that can match the Kona/Niro for efficency. Which neither the current eGolf or the and coming eTron Quattro is any where near.
I wouldnt expect something as chunky as the etron suv to be as efficient as the kona but it should match the model x - which it doesnt look like it will.
I expect the ID to be pretty competitive vs leaf/kona though

Musk is clearly a troubled man. No doubt he's changing the world, but he's not a model employer at all!
Frankly I don’t believe any of these surveys, I use to do market analyst calls and the approach and judging is far from impartial. But if I did I’d just look at Tesla, see he didn’t rank in the top 50 and companies like GM were higher.
Funny how people dispute reliability surveys that put Tesla way behind everyone else but believe the ones that pander to their beliefs.
