I received a quote - similar dates he said to me - I'm trying to justify it by saying I'll save £30-£60 a month on petrol but I'm not sure how valid that is! Mpg websites are saying about 70-80mpg average.

The o/h used to have the Merc C350e PHEV and after a few months wouldn't even plug it in (didnt have a dedicated charging point- used 3 pin plug) and just charge during regular driving

Over 20k miles averaged 40mpg - as long as i can meet that figure will be be all good smile

I've got an M Sport on order from TotalMotion. I suspect I'll soon get bored of plugging it in, but I'm wondering whether the extra weight of the PHEV compared to the 218i will negate any savings in petrol costs if I rely solely on charging the battery while driving.

Anybody got an estimated delivery date yet?

Got my finance approved today, just waiting on the order paperwork to be sent through.
Msport Premium in Estoril Blue been advised December for delivery which would tie in nicely with my S3 lease going back.

hmm... we get 50mpg in our current car so that wouldn't be great for me! However we are quite lucky because the guy we bought our house of had a PHEV Outlander and fitted a proper charging point by the front door on the driveway - so hoping to be able to take advantage of that.

Does anyone know if they are all the same (charging points) I seriously hope it's not like bloody Apple Vs. Samsung chargers!

I believe the Outlander is type 1 whereas your BMW is type 2 so if it's a tethered unit you will need to change the cable.

Take it that’s without the premium pack?

I wouldn't drive one of those if you paid me £240 a month.

I got an update today. Delivery to dealer (BMW Cotswold) expected 29th October then a whopping 2 weeks to get it to me!

I might ring them to see if I can add premium pack for a tenner.
I think you can usually add options if a build number hasn’t been allocated yet.

Premium includes
Heated seats
LED headlights
Park assist
Front PDC sensors
Panoramic sunroof.

Well worth it me thinks.

On the charging front, I’m going to order a Zappi home charger with tethered Type 2 cable ... bmw have been stingy by only including a granny cable.

Might change electric tariff too to take advantage of a cheaper night rate. That should really bring cost down.

Good to follow everybody’s journey here.

All those extras for £10. No brainer.

I backed off mSport, mainly because our insurance is high and what I read about the hard ride. But still thinking of the leather seats, which come with m sport

Re charger. Don’t forget can be installed for less that £150 with the 500 government grant

Ordered one for the wife today. Hoping she can do the majority of her 25 mile round-trip commute solely on electric, possibly with a top up at work during the day.

M Sport in Mineral Grey. £258 for 8k pa.

Asked about adding the Premium Pack as seemed a no brainer for £10 but there was only a limited number of build slots, guy at Total Motion did go away to ask BMW but no luck (apparently).

Regards to a charger, I read somewhere that you can fully charge the batteries via a 3 pin plug in just over 3 hours. If this is the case I'm wondering if it's really worth the £150/200 to have a proper one installed?

Anyone have a link for a charger installation recommendation? Seems like three companies control the market.

Not sure the premium pack is a no brainer. I turned it down when offered. The car comes with connected drive app and can be pre-heated - kind of negates the heated seats. The car has LED running lights - and modern halogen main beam look like LED nowadays. So maybe the pano roof would be worth £180? I have one in my 5 series and never use it! It also comes with rear PDC as standard.

Why not order what you want and simply select the delete option on the msport suspension then?

My Mrs has had the 225XE Luxury with pano roof for 2 years so I might be able to answer a few questions.

She typically does a 30 mile round trip to work and other ferrying kids around so it is mixed electric and petrol driving. Average MPG is solid 60 overall. You only get near 100mpg+ on short journeys that are fully electric. Fully petrol-only journeys are about 40 mpg.

We only bother charging it at home. Had a Rolec charger installed. Well worth doing, and I recall we had to wait 6 weeks for installation so get yours booked in (do not bother charging with the 3 PIN plug) We fill out all the forms, the installer charges us the install fee less the grant nd they take the forms away with them. You need to buy a Type 2 cable (£100+) if you are going to use public charging, but we have never bothered buying the cable or signing up to the different schemes.

First service was at 23000 miles, as per the service indicator, and it is now showing next service due at 45000 miles.

I actually quite like the car, wife is indifferent to it, but kids find it very uncool and think it is definitely an old person's car. For some reason, the sound system is significantly better in the 225 than in my 2016 5-series.

Cheers!

Contacted Total Motion today. they were happy to still offer premium pack for £10 but it would go in as a new order so delayed even further. I've already agreed my current lease to be extended by 1 month and don't think I can go beyond that. So sticking with M Sport.
