These 225XE/530e and believe A Class deals were great, in addition to one fee. But since then I don’t think they’ve had anything remotely competitive.
Their 2nd hand deals are pants. I used to get marketing emails offering used car lease for 48 months terms. Insulting.
Who comes up with this stuff?!
That £351 is for a 48 month deal. It starts to get into the £400s once you drop the months. Their 2nd hand deals are pants. I used to get marketing emails offering used car lease for 48 months terms. Insulting.

The last thing I'd want to be is in possession of one of those cars at 4 years old. There'll be some big services and there is plenty to go wrong outside of warranty with so much tech on board.

Our 225 was collected just over 7 weeks ago and I haven’t had any contact from Total Motion.
I’m hoping that means there haven’t been any issues with the vehicle inspection & therefore no costs
Total Motion are in Leicester. I wonder if the recent Covid and lockdown issues there have impacted their ability to function....I’m hoping that means there haven’t been any issues with the vehicle inspection & therefore no costs
Anyway, it has been posted above that under BVRLA guidelines, they have to notify you of costs within four weeks so, even if they find you car has no wheels or engine, there is nothing they can do at this stage.

FFS, received an actual invoice for £260 for damage to two alloys today, about 10 weeks after they collected the car.
Genuinely thought I'd escaped without a charge. Can't believe it took over two months to send out an invoice.
If it’s the first notification you’ve had of the charge (not necessarily just invoice) then you could challenge under BVRLA rules but they may claim extenuating circumstances due to Covid.Genuinely thought I'd escaped without a charge. Can't believe it took over two months to send out an invoice.

I'll expect my invoice soon then. My car went back on 19th May, like you I thought they'd forgotten or that it wasn't worth their time in raising it.
I'll definitely raise a question, because it's not really fair to wait nearly 8 weeks to raise an invoice.
It went straight in my junk folder and I've cancelled the direct debit months ago. If they ring me to pay it I might tell them I'll get round to it in 9 weeks I'll definitely raise a question, because it's not really fair to wait nearly 8 weeks to raise an invoice.

Any update? I guess they provide reports to the credit bureaus about whether you are up to date with payments. I wouldn’t go too far in stringing them along. Yeyeyeyeye said:

Yes, just had confirmation that my apparent bumper issue is now no longer an issue(?!) and I will only be charged for the wheels. I’m hoping that means there haven’t been any issues with the vehicle inspection & therefore no costs

I keep getting notifications for this thread, and come here expecting something interesting to be discussed about the car. Instead, it's just a bunch of people trying to avoid end of lease charges.
Is this thread basically dead, or does anyone actually care about the car?
This car is used mainly by my wife, who uses it to travel to work, which is a 18 mile round trip ( charging at work is possible) and local shopping trips etc. She does the odd longer trip of say 80/90 miles. She likes the car, the pedals, the fact it is auto and electric most of the time. Is this thread basically dead, or does anyone actually care about the car?
The question.....does it make sense to buy it or should we just get another lease ? Price to buy was £20500 about 7/8 months ago, so assume now less. Would keep for maybe another 6 years or so. I think it is borderline cost wise if we carry on leasing compared with purchasing. Might be £1/2000 in favour of the purchase. However the any new car will obviously be wrong, ie poor seats, the wrong size pedals etc.
We have a main family size car in addition. What would you do ?

We're on a rolling monthly with the lease company at the moment because of COVID, and I can't think of what else I'd replace it with at the price we're paying. Current favourite is an XC60 plugin, but that's an extra £200/mth!The question.....does it make sense to buy it or should we just get another lease ? If you're happy with it, then a couple of grand over the space of a few years is a small risk to take.
Put 80000 miles in 3 years on a 1st gen 225xe. Charge as often as I can. And i can charge for free at work. Commute is 27 miles each way
Works well for me. Averaged over 60 mpg during that time.
Long trips off charge would get mid 40's
Range is very temperature dependent, below 10 miles on the 1st gen cars in the depths of winter
Ride is hard, and large blind spot in the B pillar.
Goes very well and 4x4 surprisingly good.
Company car tax very low
Pre heating the car on a winters morning very nice.
Surprisingly with the exception of the pressurised fuel tank release all the hybrid stuff has been reliable.
Like all of these PHEV's to get the best you must charge it as often as you can.
For the 1st time in 35 years I've driving I've replaced it with the same again, this time a 3rd gen battery version. Range at this time of year on this one is over 25 miles which makes a big difference. With Covid and WFH most of my driving is now local and I've filled up once in the last 1000 miles.

The self parking has led to the wheels hitting the kerbs on a number of occasions. If I’m honest, I could count with one hand where I’ve parallel parked myself.
I live in London and think that there might be less space to park, leading to tighter spaces. The wheels seem to extend beyond the tyre, making scratching an inevitability.
If I go to the small claims, I won’t be liable for their costs and can hopefully get information from them as to what % either come back with charges or else have been refurbished elsewhere. If it’s above 50% then I’d argue that the restriction isn’t fit for purpose.
I’m on furlough and have all the time in the world to fight this.

I’m picking my 2017 one up on Monday. It’s an M sport in Estoril blue with what looks like every option going ticked on it. Really looking forward to it!
Done about 3-400 miles in it so far. Really liking it.Edited by buggalugs on Tuesday 11th August 20:46
Good:
Interior, light coloured leather w. sports seats. Everything is nice everywhere. Like the pan roof. The outside is Estoril Blue with privacy glass. I like it.
It's got the fancy stereo, HK I think? That's nice
Handling & performance is good, its fun to chuck about, on the way home tonight I was in manual mode and floored it in 3rd to get round a cyclist, I was like where've you been all my life. That 3 cylinder engine note combined with the large torque and the 4wd grip, very nice.
Bad:
The A pillar is massive, you can easily loose things in it, cars at roundabouts, lemming pedestrians etc.
The sat nav doesn't have speed limits in it. Seriously?
That's it, average so far is about 80mpg with plugging in over night.
