Gratuitous new car post....

Just picked up my new Jaguar I Pace to replace my Tesla model S

What a difference!

The Tesla was an impressive bit of tech

The jaguar is a great thing to drive and so much better built. The premium textile interior makes it for me

Happy chappy

Looks great

Am going to be in the market for a new EV this year and the iPace is definitely on the list so would be great to get your ‘real world’ views of the car - the good, the bad and the ugly so to speak

Thanks guys, I’ve just been for a decent drive and I’m loving it.

The build quality is on another planet to the Tesla

The ride, steering feel and response, and body control is superb.

Only downside far is that the infotainment is a bit laggy

I’ll keep this thread updated if there’s interest

Great choice of interior. I do like that JLR offer non-leather interiors that aren't the cheap option.

Personally for me avoiding leather isn't about animal rights, but I just find leather not a great option. Too hot and sticky in the summer without cooling and cold in the winter without heating.

Clearly it won’t be as efficient as the Model S but will be interested in your Wh/m averages and kW charging rates etc. Good to have an ex Tesla now I Pace owner outside of the closed Facebook groups.

Neighbour got one about a month ago- had it a couple of days and had to go back for a few days- all software - infotainment, nav, heating cooling stopped working. Could still drive it but that was about it. He still has a couple of issues that need sorting. Saying that he says he loves it and it’s certainly impressive inside. I would say it’s a big old lump and he struggles to get it in his garage

Coming from the Tesla it feels compact to me.
It the same size as the wife’s Macan, both shorter and more importantly narrower than the Tesla

Given I’ve lived with the Tesla for 2 1/2 years I’m well used to things going wrong. In that The centre stack locked and needed a scroll wheel reset at least once a week and the built in Spotify worked about 1 day in 5. The app connected 50% of the time, it flattened its 12v system twice and just died.... etc

So far so goo on the I Pace but I’ll keep an honest record

That's a nice looking car and a great interior as well, agree on the comments about only being able to get leather in most cars as the high end option, fabrics can be very luxurious when done properly.

Had one of these go past me at a junction the other day, wow they are nippy, it looked like he stopped time it shot forward so fast and so quiet. I noticed how quiet it was and looked for the door handles then knew what it was. I think they look better in real life the photos don't really do them justice.

I didn't go for the £400 iPace PCP as I'm waiting for the Model3 but I'm now wondering if maybe 18 months iPace PCP would have taken me to when I can actually get the model3!

Very envious of you guys getting these but love reading about them!

Hi, just a logistics question. I drive a few times a year to Spain, each day is about 1000/1100 Km with an over night stop between the two days. If I get a good run I manage 100k/h across the two days.
Can this type of journey be done in an ipace, they certainly look the part and I see quite a few of them around.
Thanks for any info

So the question is can you do 500km in a day.

The answer is theoretically yes but not without a recharge mid day so if it’s a regular thing for you then a BEV probably isn’t for you to be honest.

Ipace will manage around 350km on a full charge at highway speeds of those averages, recharging takes around an hour

Thanks for the replies, it’s actually 100/1100 each day so I guess that really knocks the nail on the head of that idea.
Cheers

If you’re doing an 1000km drive regularly then no electric car will ever suit you.

Personally I’d fly, the thought of 12 hours a day in any car fills me with dread but that’s just me
