Ah, interesting. Wasn't trying to cheat the system or anything, but BMW have a watch app and it would in theory make it quicker to lock and unlock using that.

That's interesting that it doesn't start unless the phone app is connected, do you have to start it using the app or is it enough that it's just connected?
You connect the phone to the car, unlock the doors then you use the start button as normal.

As far as I can tell the BMW app works as normal and you can use all the remote services.

With the EvEzy app sometimes your phone shows as connected but the vehicle wont start, in which case you just press "unlock doors" and the the vehicle will start.

It's not perfect, but it's a compromise worth making given the current value for money.

I tried using the BMW app to unlock / lock just out of curiosity and it seemed to cause a momentary conflict as I couldn’t then start the car without locking and unlocking via Evezy to seemingly ‘reset’ it. I’ve noticed that if you unlock via the Evezy app, get in the car, but then don’t turn it on within a certain amount of time you then need to ‘unlock’ again via Evezy to be able to start the car - I’m assuming this is the immobiliser. Not sure if it’s a common thing in cars with keyless-go - the car asks you to place your key near the steering column.

The Evezy app connects to the car almost instantly for me and then unlocking and locking are easy - I almost prefer it to a key fob (so far).

I’ve had a few occasions when trying to use the Evezy app to open the bonnet and it takes a few tries - not sure if that’s me doing something in the wrong order. But maybe worth noting as could be a good idea to keep charging leads in the boot if access to the bonnet isn’t as reliable.

Out of curiosity have you tried unlocking and locking the car using the BMW app rather than Evezy? From what you're describing you have to download a new virtual key every day? Is that right?

Also - philistine head - but what use is having your email accessible on your commute? (if you're not stopping)
You only download the key into the app once - on the day of pick up.

Emails - well, I haven't used it yet but just though may as well try it. There are times on my commute where I can on be sat in traffic for a few 5 mins periods where it could be a way of passing the time.

This reminds me - to set up stuff like email you need to use the connected drive website, rather than the app. There's also a BMW routes website which lets you plan mutlipoint routes and send them to the car (ie rather than just a single destination)

My car had a small scratch on the interior - not really possible to see it in normal circumstances but I noticed it as I was picking a water bottle up that had been dropped.

As it was brand new I emailed them to report it only to be told not to worry and to report via the app.

I received email confirmation today that they accept it was there on delivery and that it won't be an issue. So another potential downside ticked off.

Their service really have been excellent so far

It does seem like a remarkable company. I keep waiting to hear the negative experiences (I'm cynical)

The only negative comment I would have so far is that the app is a bit twitchy. Currently have an issue where my Android phone refuses to connect to the vehicle despite me having uninstalled/re-installed it.

Fortunately I also have an iPhone so can work around it but if it was my only phone that would be a major concern obviously as couldn't use the car until resolved.

Yeah I've read the app is less robust shall we say on Android vs iPhone. Hard to know how much of that is the app vs the phone though, I had all kinds of Bluetooth gremlins on the last Android I had, necessitating reboots to fix etc.

Would be nice also if there was a quick lock/unlock shortcut too, e.g. double tapping on your existing booking or whatever, or Force Touch from home screen etc.

It does sound like the Android app is more troublesome than the iPhone one. Hopefully they are currently working on the Android app fixes. iPhone app has been solid, except for the one crash just after the downloading the key on pick-up day.

i-Pace and 94ah i3 gone from the website. have emailed them to see what is up with the i-Pace. I would imagine all the 93ah i3s have been rented.

Looks like they have a full waiting list for the i-Pace so have removed it from the website. Good news I guess

Yes, confirmed earlier that it's been pulled as so popular. Was a bit worried they'd dropped it altogether so glad that isn't the case.

Told I'm top of the list so just waiting for them to sort out details with their dealers and it'll be on its way.

Can't wait. smile

Are you swapping out the i3? I'm planning on running both as with the saving on fuel, insurance and maintenance costs the i3 is costing almost nothing in comparison to the car it has replaced and a lot less than leasing something similar but ICE powered.

I am swapping, the i3 is a little small for getting things like bikes in the back and I could do with the extra range.

Yep. My company car went back at the end of March as changed jobs and have opted out of the scheme this time due to the ridiculous amount of tax and lack of choice on offer.

Been interesting going from an A6 Avant to an i3 for a few weeks so hopefully the i-Pace will re-dress the balance for family duties leaving the i3 as a perfect runaround car.

Out of curiosity what did you do to get the spec sheet for the i3 from Evezy? I asked and was simply told it would be a 2019 car with Comfort package, whereas on SpeakEV you posted a full options list so obviously spoke to the right person or said the right thing.

Beggars can't be choosers, but would be nice to know to tide me over until the pickup.
