Definitely needs a third option between chill and sport.

I'm banned from using sport mode with family in the car. Even going from 10 - 20 in sport causes an upset.

On the positive side, means even suburban driving under the speed limit feels sporty.
OH has banned me from using it as well...

I'm expecting the same. Already get complaints at times from the back seats when giving it full throttle in the i3.

Christ know's what they're going to think of the Model 3 P. biglaugh

You do know you don't need to put your foot to the floor?

dont work on the M3P, a couple of mm of foot pressure in sport mode whilst stationary will activate launch mode

Therein lies your problem - telling her it has a Sport Mode!

It's pretty easy to cruise round in sport mode, I tried chill but it doesn't have the instant wham to pull out that sport has, you could live with it sure but why?

But go light on the accelerator and it's fine.

You're telling a man that owns a MS P90DL that makes a M3P seem quite slow... I think you model 3 owners have hoofed feet not to be able to control the car.

I've never been in any Model S, based on my M3P I can imagine anything faster being quite unpleasant!

From 0 my wife feels quite ill, but the benefits also come in when you floor it at say 40 where it just feel rapid. Be interesting to see the acceleration intervals

This was an off day when I first got it usimg a cheap app - speed, elapsed time, increment time
P90DL total inc
10 0.48 0.48
20 0.92 0.44
30 1.35 0.43
40 1.78 0.43
50 2.34 0.56
60 2.99 0.65
70 3.82 0.83

It broke 3 seconds which is why it was an off day but the 50 to 70 of 1.48 seconds compares well to my old Aston of 2.07 but not as lightening fast as you might expect. I need to do it again sometime as I think I was backing off the throttle once I hit 50

A lot is said of the 0-60 but what’s it like beyond that? Does it run out of poke quite noticeably after that or is it still pulling hard up to 100 or more?

I ask in the interests of scientific endeavour of course.

A second quicker than an RS4 to 100mph suggests it keeps pulling pretty well?

It does tail off relative to the low end performance - the typical YouTube drag race shows the Tesla lead ahead in the first second or 2, they stay level pegging for a while then a good ICE will start to claw back the gap.

I won’t say it doesn’t feel fast at higher speeds (I drove on the Isle of Man quite frequently so can try these things) but something like a M4 or RS4 wouldn’t be embarrassed once you’re above 60mph

Ime the M3P trounces my CLS63 AMG up to 80mph. There is no contest

Above that the opposite is true

Cheers. I guess it's somewhat academic, just occured to me that most practical blasts of acceleration wouldn't be from a standstill, and it would be a bit disconcerting if you hit a brick wall not long after 60mph.

And it’s faster to 120 than my a45, apparently

Somebodies done the hard work for us - a website called acceleration times

After 40mph there’s relatively nothing between a M3 and a BMW M4 -

The 0-20 is what hooks you in. The rest is gravy.
