Another update what are we getting this time ?
There's an update that upgrades the wipers using deep neural network whilst also stopping you do doing defamation on twitter using the deep cave diving network.

You're covered both ways when it comes to excessive moisture.....

that was the previous update

got to use auto wipers today after the deep learning update ...

and ...

they are still st frown

the wipers only activate in auto mode when the vision is completely blocked by rain, they need to activate at least twice as often

The 'deep rain' software has only been rolled out to a relatively few cars, it's in 2019.40.x. So even if you've had recent updates you still may not have it.

Isn't the point of deep learning is that they learn over time? It won't work from day one and will take a cue from how you initially operate them.

Is this a joke, I literally don't know any more

They should come on when it rains and pause when you stop - car manufacturers have had auto wipers sussed for 20+ years now

Really? I've never had a car where they work properly.

Don't get me wrong, I don't see the point of using AI to "learn" it either. Of course, it could be beneficial for FSD to have a system that can reliably tell the weather conditions rather than "it's wet".

They work flawlessly on my infiniti. Never had to touch them.

its because normal manufacturers use a rain sensor, Tesla cheaped out and try to get the front camera to recognise rain ...

it would be fine if the wiper speed control was on a stalk attached to the steering column, the iPad is a total PITA to use whilst driving

Pretty sure Tesla didn’t take the cheap option here. Isn’t the point that AP in future needs to detect a variety of conditions from fog to rain to snow and camera is the potentially richer option long term to detect weather conditions. Though tipping point seems way off re rain sensor.

Also I think they cancelled roll out of deep rain due to early feedback so it’s unlikely you have seen it.

that would explain it still being pants lol

if they cant get the basics of rain sorted out they have bugger all chance of getting FSD working

The issue is they don’t detect moisture on the windscreen, then can’t really see rain on the windscreen because focal lengths etc focus further away - so Tesla are looking out the window and saying ‘does it look wet enough that I probably need to wipe the glass’ and a little bit of ‘is the image distorted enough to suggest there crap on the glass’

so they only way its going to work is if the car starts to use the force

I charged using a Source London 22kw charger this morning...

car went from 45% to 80% where I stopped it

they calculate it on the minutes you were connected, not the actual power you used

anyway...139 minutes - £16.54

still cheap vs petrol but not exactly a bargain. convenient though as by the office and avoids me paying for parking

strikes me thats a fat profit margin for someone though !

They work fine on mine in both light and heavy rain. Certainly no worse than any other auto wipers and better than the i3.

How many miles is 35% battery.

I'm guessing less than a 100 miles, which seems extortionate.

Some quick maths would put that around 33c/kwh?
Sounds high, bordering on extortion.
SuC are usually around 25c.

yes

Definite piss take charging for minutes connected on a slow charger.

I did a <30% to 95% charge on a Polar 50kw last night which took about an hour and a half. Don't pay for the charge as the car is through Evezy but had I needed to would have cost me about £6 for an additional 200+ miles of range at their standard 11p per kw rate.

Sat and watched the first half of The Irishman on Netflix whilst I was there. smile

I did catch myself in light rain with inactive wipers thinking something like 'Maybe my lord AP knows better. I can just about make out the road layout through the rain. Do I really 'need' to see more clearly?'

(the answer is yes)
