Chill mode works for reverse too..

Its frisky but with hold mode on seems more cruisy.

Yep. tried it but too much aggravation doing that every time you need to reverse so just need to adapt. Same with putting it in creep mode.

Having driven the Model 3 for an evening when it rained, I'd say the auto wipers suck balls.

Activating a single wipe with the stalk button was easy enough, and then it was a bit of a faff to select the manual option on the screen, and it did involve taking my eyes off the road to do so. The same goes for other controls like the temperature and seat heating etc.

Not the end of the world, but then I got back in my Volvo and everything I needed was just right to hand, much easier to live with and most functions can be completed with barely as much as a glance at the centre screen

The difference between a car you know well and one you'd used for a very short period I'd suggest? Get in any new ICE car and buttons/functions often work a bit differently or aren't positioned as you're used to. Nothing unusual about having to adapt to that and unlike a number of cars I can mention at least the Model 3 touchscreen is large, well positioned and very responsive.

I am wondering whether they've made some improvements to the auto wiper system recently TBH as it had a pretty tough test today and came through it very well. This was during the day though so perhaps not so good at night? Will report back.

strikes me thats a fat profit margin for someone though !
Not that sure really -- need to dig out an interesting post on the subject from German forum. But perhaps someone on here could do a back of fag pack calculation for the UK?

Rental cost for parking / charger space, installation cost of charger, maintenance costs, cost of billing system, bank cost, electricity cost...

Putting in a 350kw fast charger is a great way to get rid of capital...

I'm sure even at those rates it won't make money for a very long time

Yes, but they are a fairly new add on to petrol stations in relation to how long fossil cars have been on the road

I don't drive a model 3 and so can't comment on the ease of use here and how effective but even with old fashioned cars the automatic windscreen wipers never make me happy. Our Astra has automatic and then intermittent with multiple speeds and I still cannot get it just right. I faff about with it ages, losing concentration on driving.

The Yaris / MX5 has off, full on, half speed and single fick, the old fashioned way. If half speed is too quick still I go along single flicking staring at the road ahead, it's not taxing at all.

Maybe it is a psychology thing of what the driver likes and expects hence the mixed reports above?

Getting back to Tesla, would it not be easy for Tesla to introduce voice activation?

"wipers 3"
"wipers 6"
"wipers 10"
"flick" ... for one offs.

that would keep the techies happy if it came in an update and work really well you'd think.

Naturally there'll be an element of familiarity with my current car, but the ergonomics of it's use are just better. I think no matter how long I drove the TM3 for, I'd never quite get to the stage of reliably adjusting the cabin temperature, or even operating the wipers without having to take my eyes off the road.

Fair enough. I doubt you do most things without a quick glance TBH though even in a car you know well. After only a few days I'm very pleased with how intuitive the Model 3 controls are. I did sit in it for a while before driving for the first time to make sure I knew where everything was but then I do that with any new car as don't want to be fumbling around in an emergency.

Another bug I've found dangerous, is no easy way to clear screen of windows to view maps. You have to close stuff using stuff like corner window crosses. Could be fixed with a side swipe or something. Unless I'm missing something?
You can close windows like music etc by just swiping down on the appropriate icon at the bottom. No need to reach across to hit the X.

You can actually simply touch the appropriate icon to minimize something...

The biggest problem with wipers I've had is at night, but supposedly if you teach it what to do it will eventually learn...
