I'm assuming you have situations where buying a lightly used 3 over list saves you on BIk etc more than waiting for a new one?

Though thats only what 2 months of tax potentially now
BIK is always based on the original list price ( plus extras if added ) when new , rather than purchase price , so no difference buying used .

Buying used may have VAT implications.

Loads of inventory dropped onto the listings today - seems they can sell everything they make unless its got a black interior.

and my M3P is being delivered on Wednesday. I snapped up their offer of home delivery, wasn't expecting that, pretty handy. Apparently this will have a £200 charge later in the year but currently being offered at no cost for the first batch of cars being delivered this way.

How is it delivered though? Driven to you or flatbed?

Also are you leasing/PCP or buying outright?

Mines leased through Arval, no idea on how it is being delivered as yet but i'm not fussed if driven (so long as they top up the charge first!)

Cheapest Model 3 perf on autotrader is £53k, which is a white, so over list price.
Still nothing really under list in Germany either. Couple of odd ones cheaper that need to be sold via price, mainly stuff the really eager imported from the US.

Will be interesting to see how this develops. First big change in used availability should be round 2022? When the first batch of 3 year leases end?

Shame they are so conservative with their official lease deals. At German prices, I'd like the option to buy out the car at the end for the residual value computed...

Doesn't mean it's going to sell at that price.

The car is too new with high demand so who knows about residuals.
Very hard to gauge. In theory their direct sales model means you are getting the car without any main dealer markups which in theory helps residuals

Well so far no one on any of the usual forums has reported getting a 3 for a bargain (or even a reasonably reduced) price.

Nothing has appeared cheap from what I've seen, 36k seems abnout the cheapest, 45k for a performance, so maybe 10% off list, but that will change at some point, its just a matter of when, maybe soon. 142 new inventory cars are now listed in the uk, about 70 in Germany by my calculations and while thats not thousands if you can get in a new car within a month or so you'd want at least 10% off a used car.

Maybe the news of the MY on the way is making some people hold off ordering, maybe its just Tesla trying to clear the decks in the quarter like they always seem to do.

A lot can happen in two years, even one year when it comes to Tesla. I’d expect several price changes, up and down, options appearing then disappearing a few more times, etc.

I’m buying mine outright so will have a lot of skin in the game, but I’m quietly confident. I couldn’t get any lease quotes this year that didn’t work out as an equivalent depreciation of 40-45% after 2 years. Intuitively that felt excessive. Those that scored a lease last year, and BIK people are probably going to do well at the other end.

I expect they will change to a different "free" base colour (as they did black to white) as this will ensure a more even retention value across the range.

A bit odd this, I've seen barely any black 3s on the road. Tons of white ones. They get dirty quick in the UK so bad choice...

You have to love the black a lot to pay for it, its a flat black, where the white is nice multi coat and free

Yeah, solid black is a strange choice. Metallic black, or some sort of pearl black (like panther black on Audis) would've been awesome.
